  1. Hi WC I'm in Northampton, I am looking for a terrier to work with two whippets, bushing, ferreting and ratting, obviously with what I have I don't do anything but rats and rabbit, been reading different threads and it sounds right up the street of a Plummer, lakey and Russell are possibilities so is patt but don't need whatever I get to go to ground, but it has to get on within the pack, Let me know what you think am I on the right track with a Plummer, I don't care about waiting for the right tool for the job.
  2. Where would I look to find a working Plummer pup.
  3. Don't think anyone's seen a jagdterrier then.
  4. That's funny two people have mentioned on this tread that they have a preference for bitches but think a dog would do the same job.
  5. still undecided but in no rush because it needs to be the right breed of dog, ok in the running theres patterdale, plummer then theres x bredds like beagle x spaniel so reading up on previous threads theres alot of different opinions on these breeds, like "if you get a patterdale you'll allways be digging to it" but i like them, and the plummer sounds as though it fits the bill, its role is to push through cover, hedge bottom, ferreting, mooching and fitting in with the rest, here's a quick vid of my two, i would like a bushing terrier to work with these two and go down the middle pushing gam
  6. Bit of advice, I'm just putting about the idea of a bushing terrier, I already have two whippet bitches not speyed should I be looking for a dog or bitch if I had a dog he would be getting neutered, but I think bitches work better, so would the introduction of a terrier bitch to the two whip bitches cause problems, or would a neutered male be the way to go. Regards Bryan.
  7. I've two whippet bitches work, lamp, lure course and race, yea there's a lot of experts mate when at these events, but once you've worked you dog for a couple of seasons you know what she can and can't do, had my two out mooching for about two hours yesterday couple nice runs, nothing caught but keeps them keen, out today at Kelmarsh she won whip straight racing, somebody told me I can't race and course with her, but she was second to her sister in BSFA last year, so just have fun with her mate take her out doing all events as long as she's fit. Regards Bryan.
  8. Booking in starts at 08:30 racing starts when first card full, sim coursing and stright racing usual categories. See you tomorrow.

  14. I asked you earlier to explain why you think whips were pointless, now it's the owners not the dog, mate your a star. He,s a bit mixed up I reckon, if its no the whippets but there owners maybe he should get one and then awe us other whippet owners will be cool like him I stand by what I said whippets are piss an the owners are worse as they just seem to think there the muts nuts yer there grand rabbit dogs but there shredded hitting the slightest cover and all the ones I've seen are piss weak shivering stupid animals that do nowt but hunt upThat's just your opinion mate which means f**k all t
  15. I don't know who you know mate, but obviously the people I come into contact with have whips and lurchers, I've never found any difference between what mine do and what there's does, legal quarry, it's personal preference mate, like buying a car, we all drive different cars but the all do the same job, if you had a gun or hawk a whippet will do the same job, they'll be people on here who use hawks and whips, just don't see why people see the need to run them down at the first opportunity, cracking dogs in my eyes, mine are pets first but with working benefits, they live in house, they ferret w
  16. How do you mean limit yourself with a whippet? Not everyone is happy to just catch rabbits mate. But what else is there?
  17. I too have seen working greys, been ferreting with a couple don't know what other people have seen, they knew there job were very keen, very quick very fit didn't blow at all, cleared the longnet no probs, as I say big whippets or sorry same as small greyhounds.whatever.

  20. Everything's wrong with a whippet and your waiting for the band to be repealed?.
  21. What's pointless about them, explain?.
  22. There you go, here's another one jumping on the whippets are shite wagon, and what's he looking for yep that's right a big whippet (grey if you can't work that out) unless you've been out with someone who regularly works the dog you can't say anything, there's shite in all breeds, I don't work my whips enough to say there the best but they do for me and its legal.regards Bryan.
