  7. i like a good jacket on a dog with a beard, keeps the dog warm, looks good and the beard hides a few things
  8. teckel is just an old name for dachshund, i expect they used the name to differentiate between work and show stock. dachshunds come in 3 coat types smooth/wirehaired/longhaired the instinct is still there in some strains of showstock but i doubt most have too many health and conformation problems to make decent workers.
  9. my mother keeps em, she keeps the miniature long haired, when i was a kid couple of them bonnie and her dam penny were mad for ratting surprisingly, they werent much bigger than rabbits these dachshunds lol the standards might be ok as bushing dogs
  10. i blame disney and tescos i was reared in a house that rescued animals, where my sister wasa vegetarian, where the books i had on my bookshelf where enid blyton, c.s lewis, joyce stranger, animals of farthing wood. yet i lean towards survivalist ideals. i yearn for the day when people have to return to the old ways, guess im a bit of a freak.
  11. my mother is anti but in 5wks time she'll be gone for good to live nearer my anti sister most of my husbands family hunt so the job is oxo

  18. ive 2 9mth olds here, cant wait to give em a go next season. glad your pup is shaping up.
  19. dog pups are 10x easier to sell in working bred collies (in ireland at least) That's very interesting, jmo of people that breed for profit the more bitches in the litter the better. no money in collies even out of best dogs in country dont make more than 350 a pup. non reg are worth a pittance even when out of good working stock.
