  1. Little something I picked up a bit ago im not sure how big he'll end up.. mother was a whippet, sire collie whippet allegedly so I guess after a decade im back into the lurchers even if its a small un
  2. Tried the commercial stuff.. it's nothing like the real deal.. just like real mead vs the shop bought mead it's nothing alike.. If I'm gonna buy it I'm getting it from my local middleman who has got to be 90yrs old at this point
  3. I leave a buck in with the does for spring/summer and they get autumn and winter off.. one buck is in with the chickens and the other is in a xxxl dog crate
  4. It's a pretty simple setup.. they get unlimited hay, commercial rabbit pellets and I throw a bit of forage in daily.. they have old dog beds and other stuff to nest underneath and straw bedding. 2 bucks that i alternate and 5 does. I'm adding a outdoor area in the near future and that will be electric poultry netting for days I'm home.. you have to be careful about weaning enteritis as too much fresh grass can kill rabbit kits if they haven't been slowly introduced to it first There is risks with hay and straw that it may introduce myxy or rvhd but I've been lucky so far
  5. I haven't even looked at inputs vs outputs tbvh but I should start tracking them.. I have been experimenting with a breeding experiment for colour for a while and it didn't yield the result I aimed for but it did give me some unusual colours.. lilac for instance and I have only just got the size back to something decent after 4 generations
  6. So much quicker.. and just as much meat.. plus a skin for tanning
  7. I have them colony style but inside a stone building with straw to build nests in.. it takes me 5mins a day to feed and water them, I am a fan of low maintenance setups
  8. It's so nice and sweet.. it's hard to describe it to anyone who hasn't tried it. There's a good market as pets for the greys and blacks but nobody wants the red eyed whites
  9. I know a lad who's hugely into the ring forts but I know very little about them. Saw queen medb's tomb recently as well
  10. Went to the Museum of country life recently.. brilliant place... could have spent all day there.. bunratty castle is brilliant too.. might have taken a few too many pics of oil lamps and antiques though
  11. Can anyone recommend a place to buy leather and tools.. and any youtube channels or websites or even books that do a idiots guide for leatherworking I want to make belts, pouches, a custom toolbelt and dog collars mainly but don't know where to start
  12. As much as I love dutch shepherd's they ain't for most folks.. I got a bull mastiff x rottweiler pup Last year and she looks and sounds the part.. she's a good deterrent and a exceptional family dog.. pretty laid back.. high prey drive so have to watch her around other animals but that's her only real issue... had a group of men land on my doorstep uninvited and she put on a good show..
  13. Found out recently why my great grandparents moved to England.. they left ireland during the famine.. and now their great great granddaughter was born in ireland and is learning the history.. we will be going to the famine museum soon
  14. Some days my kid is fine with it, other days she suddenly gets attached to a rabbit.. I solved it by getting her a guinea pig and she's realised the guinea pig is a much nicer animal and she has lost interest in the rabbits.. she loves the meat though Also if you breed nzw they all look the same so kids can't tell if it's snowy, snowball, snow plough, snow white etc etc that is in the pot
  15. Muscovy ducks and flemish x nzw are my main livestock now.. with a few hens for eggs (breeding rumpless araucana with goldtops to produce green egg laying broodies)
  16. not a current pic but I do stagecrew work part time on a seasonal basis.. there's always something different and I enjoy it. The pay can be brilliant or awful and the work is backbreaking but fun
  17. Everyone should be protesting this bill... left wing and right wing... or they will stop every protest regardless of what its about... even the ones that we care about.
  18. Nah but I am sure someone would buy the teeth to make jewellery in that case Even jawbones fetch a few quid but nowhere near as much as a skull in good nick
  19. If they do it i wouldn't mind getting my hands on a skull, plenty of folks in my circles would buy them as well
  20. I know a few folks locally who have had very near misses, they intercepted folks as they attempted to steal their dogs... Dog prices are fueling this more than usual.
  21. This place is dirt cheap but in a area where you will need a considerable commute to work.. Nearest lidl is in castlerea 10mins away https://touch.daft.ie/for-sale/detached-house-classaghroe-williamstown-co-galway/2529442
  22. Ive had my eye on this place.. 25min drive from Galway city and a bit of land with it... Rural but fairly close to all the amenities you could wish for https://touch.daft.ie/for-sale/bungalow-beaghbaun-brownsgrove-tuam-co-galway/1183571
  23. We made this (hubs kit you buy online combined with Hazel poles from the woods) the kids helped to forage the poles and to cut everything down to the right size and put it together
  24. I have the hob kit in the house right now and the stink is driving me up the wall.. Building a outdoor ferret court is my very next project.. Good luck with the indoor hutch, don't think I could do it tbvh
  25. I just paid 25euros for a albino hob kit a couple of days ago That felt like extortion tbh but ferrets are hard found round these parts
