  4. ive got 2 young ones here they are about 14, 15 weeks my hob was a little shit and would pounce at you when you opened the hutch up. hes calmed down a lot now due to the handling hes still a head case though and fun to watch but hes stopped the nipping all the same. a few things to try. 1 keep them well fed. keep a bowl of food in there all the time. 2 when they are coming to the food to eat, place your hand beind there shoulders and pick them up. 3 keep them held with one hand while stroking them with the other. 4 talk to them so they get to know your voice. 5 dont offer them your

  6. alpha for me have had no problems with it use it through the summer have to be carefull on how much ya feed them though coz they can gain weight with it.

  9. just been to feed the ferts and give them a clean up. on putting the food into the hutch the young hob 14 weeks old got straight onto the stuff when the other three jills came to the bowl he has proper gone for the older of the the jills he is hissing and spitting if they get anywhere near his bowl quite funny to watch considering hes only a youngster and has been no bother with them till now just put another bowl in with them to stop it little git only tried going for me hand when i moved his bowl think it might be time to seperate them greedy little shit.

  11. mate no one is gonna tell ya where to go it often takes years to get some land for some people if you dont have any where to go yourself try asking for a tag a long with someone that is willing to show you the ropes a bit or as said get door knocking.
  12. i asked a ferret rescue if they had any kits a couple of years ago which they said they did so after a bit of a disscusion i asked what the price would be and was told £40 each because they had to be neutered first before they where aloowed to go. i then asked if i could take them before they where neutered because if they proved to be good workers i would possibly breed if they were not upto the job they would be neutered at my cost. the person on the other end of the phone told me the reason so many ferrets end upin rescues was because of idiots like me willy nilly breeding them. i was a bit

  16. have had youngsters come to the net and go back down agian as they havent had the force to purse the net but then the usuall squealing underground happens as ferrtes get them but never had a normal coney bounce of the net even when poorly set they usually purse to some extent as said if they are snarled up a bit they wont purse.
  17. allthough i will probably be slated by all those that beleive ferrets are only good for work and not pets my kids think otherwise and regulaly take the ferrets out on leads and i tell you what theres not a fat ferret in the hutches and they all work when asked of them only one that isnt up to scrath is one of last years kits but shes learning fast. so i say get him out walking do him the world of good

  21. dry and rabbit here dry through the summer with a bit of meat just to keep the flies down a bit but through the winter its meat wether it be pigeon venison rabbit or pheasnt they seem to enjoy it not much usually left.
  22. this years new additions one jill one hob the darker of the two is the hob very fiesty little character at the mo but hes coming round day by day hes the first to come and greet me in the morning and loves his rabbit cant wait till hes a bit older and see what hes like working. ferret.bmp
