to be honest Im not sure about the receipt bit, but at the end of the day, DEBEN are a buisness that are there to make money, maybe the guy had wanted to get it fixed free of charge, but didnt have a receipt, try phoning them, tell them you have bought it second hand and do they "service" these units Im sure the answer will be YES

if it aint nicked, then why not just send it back to deben for repair?

I used to feed mine the day old chicks many years ago, as I had falcons too so it made sense, but I would suggest anyone using these for their ferts as a food, to cut out the yolk sac inside them, as otherwise its like feeding them an egg every day

there have been quite a few of late, with the question "Ive got a single fert, what can I feed it on" maybe Im just getting old, but Ive kept animals/birds since I was around 10yrs old, and was ALWAYS told before aquiring any pet, to go get some books on it, read them from cover to cover, and then again, ask loads of keepers/fanciers questions, and then, if your fully confident on how to look after it, get it this last week Ive read a few different posts, all from people who already have a fert.. asking; what do I put on the floor of hutch!!!!! what shall I feed it on!!!

Im in pest control within the M25, having left the construction trade and taking a huge pay cut, all because Id watched life of grime for a couple of years and it looked an interesting job, the firm I joined are good on sending there people on getting quailified and I now have permits of all sorts that allow me to work on the railway system(mostly underground) was also sent to coventry to sit my BPCA/RSPH level 2 cert(which I passed) I work nights a few hours doing pest control in area's used by rail staff, controlling mice,rats,cockroaches and wasp's in the summer, sometimes fruit flies etc

looks like I was mistaken then... easy option, take a locator collar, cut of the locator, leaving 10mm or so either side, have it re stiched onto collar of your choice...sorted

the deben mk1 has leather collars, but unless I'm mistaken the new mk3 ones are the plastic type push fit...

grew up as a townie, but had a grandad that was a top gardener/carpenter and budgerigar breeder, he taught me to have a love of gardening, a jack of all trades, I was always good at building hutches and aviarys, and of course birds, after he died we moved to rural hainault, but at that age I missed me mates and town, so went back to live with me nan, of course living with a nan who thought the sun shone out my arse meant I could have any pet I wanted, so the budgies made way for ferrets and after seeing "KES" the kestrels came along, luckerly we had a large amount of waste land/graveyard and g

so, unlike a dog collar that you would want to get a finger or two under, how tight do you go on the fert locator collar(mk1) dont wanna strangle them, but dont want them slipping the collars either

do you mean a harness? or a collar for a ferret detector? have a look on e bay if its just a harness that your after, leather will be buckle, or the newer type have the push lock...

well me and the other half, got the best pressie ever..... after having to leave essex bout 4 months ago and come live at my place in east london, found out today we are gonna move back to grays in essex

well 1 pace is approx a yard, so 5 paces would equal 5 yard, so maybe 8 to 10 poles, dunno if thats exact as never used long nets, but ya net looks good anyway
