  1. if you get one that can do that, can i see a picture... quote; It will be a family pet and go for walks, bike rides
  2. I feed dry food in the sleeping compartment, and flesh/meat from the floor,
  3. no mate, absolutly FREE OF CHARGE, the nfr pays for it all, even if your not a member, even had youngster's there, which can only be a good thing, bringing new blood into the hobby you pay a £20 REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT to make sure you turn up, save's places going wasted, although I gave my deposit back as a donation as it was such a good day and yup, there were people there today that had travelled from WALES
  4. maybe my spelling was wrong, yes its for people who care about using ferrets, and want to keep using them its run to try and educate non hunting type people, that ferrets are not only owned and used by travelers or poachers, but that there is a bigger mass of people out there that use ferrets as part of either their sport or pest control or just as pets, its run with the ferret in mind, not the keeper this is a free state still, so your opinion is yours to have, but why make fun of an organization that can only help our "hobby" surely its better than a bunch of anti's who want t
  5. got shown how to use the mk3 today at the NFR day, and must say, had I had one myself I would have been using it wrong, and maybe thats what alot of people are complaining about, as not fully understanding how the thing works, on search mode(16ft distance) you can "home in on the fert" once done, switching to locate, this is the bit some may fine confussing as the LED will show 8ft/6/4/2 etc this is NOT the distance down of the ferret, but its saying the fert IS WITHIN 8ft or 6ft etc the fine tune dial is then turned on to find the exact depth and location, if some people are using it
  6. well, had a great day, really infomative on all aspects of ferreting, using birds/dogs and nets split up into 3 groups and getting about an hour and half on each, only took a couple of pics Im affraid, mainly because we were asked to turn our phones off(camera phone) in case they rung and spooked anything the birds were great to see, flying at rabbits rather than as we normally get to see them at a country fair, but far to slow for my liking and need lots of looking after etc the dog section was the mutts nutts, AMBER, a grey/whip/collie did some great runs in thick trees/undergrowth
  7. just come back from the NFR day, and was talking bout the reason's mk2 wernt seen that much, sorry to say the mk2 was the prototype for the mk3 they discovered all its faults and resolved them for the mk3 so Id say get shot of it, the mk1 is still in use by loads (i myself) but after seeing the mk3 in action that will be on my "next to buy list"
  8. 3 attempts and still no pics, would have been a better idea to preview your post's in future to see if they work,
  9. think your thinking bout something else joe
  10. myself and big fish hunter are going on the NFR ferreting day tomorrow, will try and take a few pics if anyones interested

I hope the photo is in focus chris, and not too blurry from shakey hand fright
  13. I think it depends how you look at it, if you have NOWHERE to shoot, then a tenner and a bit of traveling aint that bad, look at the whole picture you may meet others there that will share a shoot with you, or you may bag a bunnie or two, but saying I aint traveling that distance is a bit unproductive
  14. :welcomeani: chris, hope that stops you moaning that I aint shown an appearance on here
  15. hi to all that left advice, have found a dog on a lurcher rehoming site that we like the look off, so can any of you lot tell us what this mix is like, he's around 2yrs 29" deerhound greyhound x deerhound/saluki/greyhound
  16. so in my quest to find a lurcher from a rehoming centre, I find another site on the net and start searching the dogs, found one that sounded good at 2yrs old and no behaviour problems, but needed rehoming due to owner being to ill to look after it anymore anyway scrolled down to the picture, and started laughing, my partner asked why? I said to her "whats the main thing you would want a lurcher to do" she replied "HUNT" I then continued to scroll down to the picture see below........
  17. yeah had looked at tim, but we already have a JR bitch, and they say he's a randy sod, plus we have a boy of 8yrs who acts more like 5, so didnt look a good option...
  18. thats the one I was already looking at terrierman thanks for the pm joeb I'll give it a few more weeks till were in our new place in grays, then get the ball rolling, at least I now know rehoming a dog is a possibility
  19. Do you have any experience of training dogs especially lurcher types good point there martin, but that's why I aint rushing out, Im always harping on to people that buy ferrets, and then say.......er how do you look after them, no the reason I asked (joeb hit it on head) is looked on battersea website and they had a couple of nice looking dogs, but they say these dogs have probs because they chase anything that moves, which although sounds good I presume you only want your dog chasing the desired quarry, and not cars/bikes/young kids etc etc
  20. just a thought, but am after a lurcher, but not wanting to rush out and take the first one that comes along, but am torn between either bedlington/whippet cross? or saluki cross with ???? we already have a jack russel so will need to get on with her ok, so my main question; seems most on here have views on when to train, but if a dog/bitch was found at a rehoming centre, that was prehaps older.. maybe 1yr to 2yrs that had only been kept as a pet, could it be trained for hunting?, or would it have the chase instinct in there and was just waiting for you to let it out...if that
  21. guy in hole; so I say's to the guy in the pub, "it's all lies bout me and your wife"
  22. ditches reply is quite correct quote; If in doubt; Carry a Clip Board. No one in their right mind would go up against a bloke armed with a white helmet and a Clip Board we do our pest control for london underground, no names on hi vi but wear the "all green" type work gear carry maybe a blue holdal of poisons etc, although we carry all sorts of different photo ID allowing us entry to the underground, its very rare that anyone approaches us, they even open the customer ticket doors as we walk towards them as we mutter "thanks mate" not even an "who do you work for" makes you think, car
