  1. by you own words, you admit to knowing nothing about ferrets, yet want to breed them I'd suggest you get rid of the ferrets, read some books, get some experience, and try again
  2. you say that, as though you know more to this than we do
  3. you'll get a few differnt answers, I tend to leave the hob in with the jill, untill the vulva starts to go down, that way you know for sure that mating has occurred, others take the hob out if the jills neck looks too badly bitern,
  4. I can see what your asking, with the poles in wooden stands, the net could be 2" or so off the ground, just hold it down between poles with a brick or something, even a tent peg
  5. if she is definately pregnant, when are you taking the dates from?, you are best working the dates out from when you removed him from her cage, rather than the first day you put him in, if that makes sense
  6. Id say deff illegal, although crow is classed as vermin, it should be dispatched humanely, that was not would think the crow was shot/wounded then given to the ferret did you report it scuzy? I did
  7. so glad you said that ditch, I'd have been hung by now rizla, dry food, although frowned on by some, is a good gap filler when stocks of rabbit are low, but not as a complete, no hassle food, if your keeping ferts as pets, then maybe look into chicken from the pet stores etc
  8. I beg to differ on that, if your ferreting for a landowner, and the warrens run on the boundary fence and onto a grass verge, your allowed to go fifteen foot past the boundary fence, think you'll find a letter regarding this, from the road agencys on the national ferret register website

yeah, whats wrong with FROG FACE
  10. If you have some cover, bushes etc, I'd say live catch traps would be one way to go, but if you not kitted out with them already, could be costly for you, although you could include this in a quote,
  11. the only trouble there mate, is if a breeding record is wanting to be kept, so future breeding can be worked out, who's who etc, the 3 jills, with 3 litters all together and he wont know, who's is who's
  12. you dont get BBC1 over where you live then she was a dr of sorts, that had done a 25yr study on wild rabbits she still talked a load of b0ll0cks though
  13. I'll second that, I've had two jills both expecting, have litters together and get on fine, a young jill I have looked like she may have had probs a few days ago, put her mum back in with her, who she gets on great with, and the young jill attacked the mum within seconds, so split them up, the young jill has gone on to have her full litter, and is doing fine on her own
  14. how many people from here have been duped of £55, as no members are now wanted, will they get their money back
  15. just took another peek, and looks like at least six kitts now, thats over a four day period, will have to do a few google searches
  16. in the later days, holding her in one hand around the front paws/chest area, the bottom half resembles a light bulb, also heavier, you can feel the weight change, mine tend to look really small/skinny around the head and chest, more visits to the toilet area, as not so much space inside her now,
  17. as stated by gilly, just cut the collar down, the only difference between a 16ft terrier and ferret collar is the length. a ferret one is 200mm long a terrier one is 400mm long I bought a terrier collar and cut it down to 300mm for use on my big necked hobs, works a treat just re read your first post, Im presuming you have the locator but no collars, Id say check out e bay, but try different searches deben, ferret finder etc thats how I found my terrier collar for £32
  18. in the oz dvd, they say they use the cages, rather than a purse net, as its possible to get more than one rabbit in them, sometimes two or three, where a purse net is only catching one, as for countryfile, thought it was ok, till that doctor bird started sprouting on about how rabbits help nature/butterflies etc, more fueling for the anti's
  19. thats a good point lorelei, maybe someone will know the answer
  20. now a question, needing an answer, can the birth of a litter be spread out over "days" or should it all be same day" I remember seeing posts, where a jill has had the first kitt, then the next day been taken to a vets, and the passed dead kitts now Im a beliver in let nature get on with it, my jill as stated, first kitt still born, second day (41 days) had second kitt, then no more, but still looked pregnant, but also looked healthy, checked this morning and have 4 kitts
  21. quote; This is a result of greed by the City Investors see, I dont see it that way, I'd never pay, to help clear vermin from someone's land, keep the rabbits, sure, but pay, never so I'd see it as more a problem, that some shooting people or city Investors, that like to play at hunting on weekends, happily pay for permission, cant knock the farmer, for looking a gift horse in the mouth
  22. have to admit, never even thought of asking the council if we could but as stated above, all neighbours in neighbouring gardens, have been given large amounts of free egg's
  23. sorry, but didnt notice you had mentioned owls before I left my reply
  24. well pioson isi'nt really a deterrent keeping the ground free from spilt seed would be a deterrent
  25. no, I have a mk3 which I use, but when ferreting in the past with magwich, he use's the mk1, and his locator box, can pick up my mk3 collars
