  1. Couple of pics of my Airedale: she is not from English show lines: her parents came over from Canada and have the USA breeding in them: bred for work. Most are not KC registered and the lines that mine comes from are known as Redline Airedales: many have completely smooth coats or have the coat of a Lakie terrier.
  2. Only just seen that this has been resurrected and I didn't see Doga's last post; sorry for not replying! I'm no Bull expert but from the ones I've seen out at digs etc I'd say my Airedale is every bit as keen, though as yet not fully tested. Last season was a wipeout for me through illness, so its all systems go this winter: put it this way, on recent occasions when a terrier has dropped to ground, its only the size of the Airedale that stops her following to ground as well, and I struggled to hold her back even though she's only small compared to some of the Bull crosses around. She's j
  3. Good dog! Just as a matter of interest: why didn't you have the dog with you when you originally shot the bear? Maybe a stupid novice question as I've never done bears LOL, just interested. Would the dog upset the hunt?
  4. Cheers Warren: love her head: looks a really bright spark LOL Just hope I can keep up with her
  5. I always reckon on one of the first signs of a real pregnancy is that the rear teats go a much brighter pink/red than normal. But obviously you need to know what normal is first LOL
  6. The organisers of the show don't come on this site, or any other that I know of, but if its the same as in previous years then you don't need to book in advance, but you do need to book in for the racing on the day at the secretary's tent: from 8.30am onwards. Hope this helps.
  7. Some canny photos there: looked like you all had a great time: love the pic of the tent full LOL
  8. Reminds of the days when a lurcher show was all about working dogs LOL Thanks for putting those up: always interesting to see dogs from far away.
  9. A few years ago we were out coursing on the fens: my OH's old boy says look there's a hare: pointing at a rectangular dark shape in the middle of the field. It can't be we said, it hasn't got smaller, just stuck there like a brick on the field. We carried on, ran a few, then passed the same field and the same block was still stuck there. I tell you its a hare, says the old boy, about 15 at the time. OK, we'll walk out to it: we did and it got up and ran and it was a hare and abloody good one: dog never caught it! Amazing: it had looked just like a brick sat in the field, never got down,
  10. Once a stopper has been almost torn off, allowed to heal, then the dog is run again, it will nearly always be prone to ripping that same stopper: the strain on the tissue beneath the stopper is enormous when a lurcher runs. I've known several people have problem stoppers permanently removed at the vets: only thing is you will need to pad and bandage the site forever after when the dog runs: but of course the problem is magnified 100% if the dog runs on this hard ground.
  11. Sorreee! And I wasn't having a go at you re passing dogs around, its just that so many replies to ads seem (please note the word 'seem') to be the start of a dog swapping enterprise. By the sounds of it you are not one of these: so I really hope you get her and she does you proud: she looks a really nice sort.
  12. Amazing isn't it! The guy clearly says for people to pm him, yet there's still replies asking the guy to phone THEM. I'd call that more than a cheek, downright bad manners as well as stupid for not reading the post properly. Doh! I really hope you get a good home for what should be a good dog: please don't let her go to the first tit that gets in touch: breaks my heart to see so many dogs passed from pillar to post. (Not saying that's you at all: just ranting in general.)
  13. It doesn't matter if the dog is in A1 condition: if it slips on take off, or fails to see a single rusty strand atop a wall (brown wire against green vegetation is hard for a dog to see) then it will spike itself. Accidents can and do happen despite everything we can do to stop them: though I agree that a fit dog will be able to jump better than an unfit one: you just can't stop freak accidents.
  14. Right: the problem is that if you mix meat and a complete food not only are you upping the protein content considerably, but meat and dry food take different lengths of time to digest. In some dogs this may not actually be a problem but in many dogs it does give them diarrhoea, which of course means that the dog is not getting the best from either type of food as it is being wooshed through the gut too fast. If you want to feed both then feed at different meals and wait 12 hours before feeding a different type of food. I know some people who do this and they are very happy with the resul
  15. Not another one: this always seems to happen at the start of the season more than any other time: my heart goes out to you: she looked a superb bitch.
  16. Just beautiful: I've got a brindle lookalikey dog here of 2 years old who could be their elder brother.
  17. I've never bought wormers from pet shops and haven't looked at the ingredients for many years, but if my memory serves me well there is much less of the active ingredient than in 'prescription wormers', though of course you can now buy Drontal Plus on the internet without a prescription.
  18. What a bloody shame: but as others have said: at least you still have her to breed from. Hope you've got something else to run this season.
  19. Why would their tails be docked? They are little hound crosses (Beagle/Teckel in there) not straight terriers and Borders are never docked anyway.
  20. Just the ticket for bush busting. Lovely looking pups.
  21. Feckin awful state to be in. These b*****ds steal dogs, demand a ransom in some cases and just don't feed the poor things. To be honest, a lot of dogs I've seen in this situation are more dehydrated than starved: for some reason these sort of people don't think a dog needs water: seen it too often for it to be a one off. About time we had some vigilante groups in this country taking out the thieving sods.
  22. I give up! Seriously, I've been told things about this litter that means that these pups aren't fine at all: so please stop protecting someone who is refusing to take advice> the internet hides a lot of hidden facts if you didn't know that by now!
  23. It is not just the fact that they are wet: their legs and feet are severely lacking in bone: their toes are like bits of string, they have no substance to them: thin necks, ribs showing, peaky looking: all signs of severe malnourishment and worms. Their caots are stary too: fur sticking out all rough looking, not smooth and shining. Believe me I do know what I'm on about and what I'm looking at as I've rescued a lot of pups similar to them in my time. A pup can't grow properly if it is full of worms, and unless you use a proper wormer, not an over the counter job, they will still have wor
