The sad thing around this is we are not tolerated any more, people look judgingly at anyone carrying a gun or partaking in country sports, but we have as much right to be there if not more in some cases, and the thought of haveing to phone the police when I go anywhere, seems to stick in my throat as an infringement of my civil liberties,I do ring the police when lamping, And I am always courteous when I speak to anyone, everyone knows me in the area of my permission,

Its funny I was loading the car up on Wednesday, I walked across a lane with the gun down by my side to the car immediately opposite me,dogs pissed around for minute or so,while we were trying to get them in the back of the pickup, then from nowhere came a bloke on a pushbike,I know I had the gun with me on my shoulder on a sling, empty and barrel down and empty, it was on the opposite side of my body from him, but he clearly turned and saw me lifting the lurcher in, anyway we drove on behind him caught him up in about 1/2 a mile, and he was on his phone while riding,as he approached a junction

I use the trigger stick tripod, when I am out calling/waiting for deer, and they are good, however I find them heavy and counter productive to walk with, as it tells you not to use them as a walking stick, But when I am roaming around/stalking on foot I carry just a normal pair of sticks,as in B+Q specials with a rubber band around the top,the thing with them you can use them to as a walking aid, as in a stick if you need to, like all things when you use them for the first time, they take a little getting used to,but once you do get used to them you wont use the Bipod as much, I have taken mine o

I can assure you there example is a poor one,our country is not free or fare, in this country anyone who hunts, or takes part in country pursuits is wide open to state supported discrimination, in my opinion.

Its a shame we didn't all stand together, hunting, fishing, shooting, stalking, dog men alike, all European hunting men as one,as the threat is real, to all of us,we should be able to enjoy the same freedoms, as our European cousins, it makes me sick to think about it.

Barrel Cleaning And Accuracy?
3175darren replied to ledders666's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Always set your rifle up on a clean barrel, clean it and let it cool after every shot when zeroing, this is ok when only shooting the odd deer, but if you are doing large amounts it's better left, and set up dirty, then cleaned every month or so, some people clean them at the end of the season, then fire a shot day before going, it's a real controversial topic, I was brought up to clean the gun when I got home, before putting it away, and that has stuck with me, -

Old Metal Things. Any Ideas?
3175darren replied to comanche's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
There was something similar to that on a farm I spent time on, and they were bucket hangers, you sat a bucket in them to feed or water with, I am not sure if that's what they were made for, or just a make do job, -
why not use a heavy grained wood and use something to highlight the grain,?
-
there were two different sticks one was a lot thinner than that, but neither had bark on very plain sticks really, a tool used to measure a stint, and tunnel width in hand filling days, or to assist in taking gas samples, and such
-
I hope this helps gaffa, shout if you need any more
-
Hope this works I am not the best with this game, the stick is 3 foot long
-
are you sure you are looking at 22 hornet or 17 hornet, I use the 35 grn hornady in my 22 hornet and it kills very well to around 200 yd,
-
I still have one here gaffa, some deputies used to take there time and clean them right up, and personalise them, it would be good to see your version mate.

Also to help with gas testing, taking samples of methane, before taking a reading with the oil lamp,
