  1. Do you need tickets/ licences to release brown trout, and I am in Cumbria I recon the goo sander and cormorants are the culprits around me, the otters seem to show up sporadically, as though they are following fish up river, here one minute gone the next,
  2. Good stuff I wish I had the verbal dexterity, to do one,
  3. If it knows your are there it will run when shot, and if it doesn't more often than not it will drop where it stands, if that means the animal dies a little more stressed, then that's about all, so I suppose at most it might take a little longer for the neat to relax, when hung, as for taint, I have never noticed one, but that's me,
  4. At the end of the day people have a right to defend themselves, and if nonces keep getting off on bail because the courts won't lock them up, then the justice system isn't defending people is it , well done to all of them,
  5. yes I thought that was when we used to release chukas, before there release were banned, it's good to hear other people's views though, I would like to get some started , this yr if I could,
  6. Cheers mate I really don't have any reds to worry about, there's a pair right over on the far boundary,
  7. bloody hell I am on naproxen codydramol and a small amount of diazapan, and its ok, no high anyway. lost 4 stone over last yr and my backs still buggered, but not had the sciatica for a while,it doesn't stop the heart though, I will rabbit and fox off a mobility scooter before fail,
  8. Happy st George's day lads, keep up the English end,
  9. At the end of the day its there home not ours, its up to them to monitor and police the hunters there, not three steaming idiots from over here,Its a freedom and a human right to hunt, notice the two people who were potential antis, both English sounding,no person has the right to remove hunting from and individual,it goes back to our animal origins,as regards the firearms licensing, why does it cost that much, all back ground checks are done via PNC one person in a office, all required info as regards topography of the land you are applying for, is available via ordinance survey maps, and a police
  10. I have just had a scrounge around ebay for some, to no avail though,
  11. Your are right it does improve the wine a bit, so does adding raisins, I am just trying to find the rate out, but I bet I don't, their seems to be no referance to it anywhere
  12. I have used both before, but I just substituted a 250 ml tin of concentrate for a litre of pure grape juice and to be fare it wasn't bad, but just wondered if there was any info as to the concentration rate, so you could work out how much pure juice to add,to get it right so to speak,
  13. Can I ask if anyone one knows the equivalent of fresh grape juice, to concentrated grape juice, as in if I were to substitute concentrated grape juice, for fresh, what amount would I need.
  14. Can anyone help I am looking for a few grey partridge eggs, to put under hens / bantams I am not looking for loads, but want to release some on ground around my house, not to be shot, just to try and establish some small breeding stock, as we are devoid of them and have been for,the last ten yr or so,I hit the vermin hard every yr, and are starting to see more and more pheasant and duck nests get away, but there's simply no breeding stock of greys to breed from it seems,I tried buying on line to no avail, ideally someone in the Cumbria area would be good, to avoid posting eggs, if anyone could
  15. We had it bad last year, August onwards and it's around at the moment, god help us for numbers this season, I don't think the weather has been cold enought to kill the fea's this winter so it might screw us up big style, have to wait and see,
  16. 243 all the way - until you look at 308 try a swede 6.5x55 great guns, do like the 243 mind
  17. to be fare when ever I take her and kill, I use the opportunity to keep the dog's nose in without dought the dog will switch at some point onto foot scent, but to be fair I always go for heart lung shots, it's a absolute act of necessity for me to take any other shot and as such there's always been a blood trail for the dog to latch onto,I can't rule out she has on occasion switched to foot scent, but you can usually, check this by the presence of blood, if I take her the morning after and put her on cold scent or even the next evening, she gets very deliberate, scratching the ground trying to
  18. I would always help anyone in such a situation, but they are as rare as hens teeth, because of our standards in England, in these so called deer dogs, are billed as something godly in there abilities and it's not the case, blood really is easy for a dog to follow, any dog, I use a Teckel now, but there's not enough, blood work to keep the dog endaged, in a useful, way and I won't have a dog sat idle, So a dedicated blood dog will have a boring life, better multi tasking
  19. It's not alien, but compulsery is,we are ruled to a point of oppression,
  20. Its not, I shoot my share of deer too , and have stalked since 1986 , my point was it shouldn't be compulsory, as I have and pointed out the cost will be added once it is, my other point was your comment on proper, and stu mentioning certificated, well who decides the standard, and no it's not rocket sience, and the running dog, is one of my dogs , I have a blood dog asI have said before, I have a lab, for my wildfowling/ pheasant shooting, I have been around dogs all my life, but it's funny how you comment on my running dog, if that has caused a pre conception of me , then I am sorry, you coul
  21. yes we know and it should be stopped or challenged, it's crap,
  22. Yes I think it will become compulsory, and I think the forestry commission will be the main pushers of it,I don't agree it should be compulsory mind, and that's my opinion, what bothers me is technically forestry commission land is technically public land, which stalkers have pay a lot of money to get access to, unlike the other people who's access is free, and it is utilized by many different people, ie walkers, bike riders, horse riders, and all sorts of hobbies are undertaken on forestry commission land, yet they need no certificates to carry out there pastimes, if you were to look at the ac
  23. Not really stu, I didn't reply as I didn't agree with him, and didn't want to start an argument,I would never teach a dog to define individual a foot scent of a deer ,the dog is there to follow injured deer up only,I always taught my deer dogs to follow blood,to define the foot scent of a individual animal on a deer trod in scotland would be amazing, and there hundreds of them in some woods, and to trust that would be a long long day, crawling through pine forest, its the blood the dog should be on that picks one animal out of them all,or should do if hit in the first place, and the beauty of th
  24. Yes they are expensive to feed,I suppose they have there uses, but as said by skull hooker 410 is a lot handier and around a garden, with a 2 inch cartridge it's spot on,and almost totally silent,
  25. make him a bonnet badge
