  5. I like beer brewing and have got back into it over the last two year, I did my first in a corney keg, and just finished that, it’s good to do, I liked the dry recipes years ago but struggle to get the ingredients now, so been doing Coopers kits, and they have been good,
  6. I never use markers where members of the public have access to the land. Indentations on mole hills, strands of wool, white spray paint; anything that'll point me to the spot but won't catch the eye of a footpather. very wise I keep some of them trapline for those area’s, in an on footpaths as they go into the run, and sketch a small plan on notebook roughly where they are, people just can’t leave things alone, I even have a trail camera, I use in area where I expect a problem, never caught anyone with it, but it’s there,I use markers on farm ground that’s not got public access, but push them
  7. j have never tried the bethel Rhodes traps, what are they like, I love the flat pack stainless traps, very good in this acidic soil up here, last for ages,

Had a few round here Born with the fence stakes , one of the worst was a fair sized buck completely wrapped in electric fencing with three posts tangled in amongst it and with the electric still on , fcuk did I jump when I touched it , completely exhausted but still alive he must have got tangled in the night and I got a call about seven in the morning when the owners went to check the horses ...the electric fencing when there cleaning velvet is a menace ..had another caught by the antlers with about 60 metres to run free on before it jerked him to a halt , that was a bit hairy getting close e

  13. try stitching together two leather greyhound leads, or get long line for schooling horses, fasten it to its collar and lay it out behind the dog as it walks, at heel if the dog slips past or goes too far in front just step onto the line, to stop it as long as it’s not flying it will pull up / stop, she should look back at you, reward that eye contact, but only if the dogs calm, hand up when you are sure she will remain halted, close the gap and praise her, walk ahead again at a slow pace, she should hold maintain the gap between you, do this a few times faster then slowing down, and the dog wi

Thats the beauty of stalking over a dog it's more personal, they are brilliant company, I have spent hours and hours stalking with a dog, and I can say I have enjoyed every one, all my stalking dogs have been good hands at other game but I did emphasise the stalking discipline, the rest looked after itself, Labrador's are fantastic dogs for stalking with, I had a black lab here last yr to train and bring on for a few month for a mate, it was superb with hand signal's, he brought it up for start of the duck season, and introduction to feather/ game, the lad had clearly put good work into finish

This is a subject that generates opinions, from all corners, it is without doubt to me any dog you can steady to close heal work,will with little effort stalk, when I say this it needs to be space aware when walking, as when you step side ways it does also, I have experimented several times, any dog that will stalk deer, will stalk fox, rabbits, anything really this pointer would stalk anything, if I went with a rifle he went into stalking mode he also loved wildfowling this lurcher was too keen to stalk over, for deer but absolutely red hot on a bloob scent, This teckle was a dream t
