  1. Looks like rust has eaten that one from the outside in! Look at tfhe ase utra. Short and compact.
  2. I can't resist this one..... ..........."alright rambo!" Lol.
  3. Here is one from todays do. It shows OB, Graham O'Brien, and Andrea Busfield, wife of the Late Bill Busfield, of the Halifax and District foxhounds, and Pennine foxhounds, presenting a cheque to the value of £500, to Kevin Mitchell from "Help for Heroes". Nigel O'Brien, huntsman to the Scarrview Foxhounds looks after the hounds. Its great to see that in this day and age, of people slagging of some country sports, money can be raised by the hunters for a good cause.
  4. That's close. I take it you will show us what you took soon.... they should be good.
  5. so what would you estimate the effect to be on say the 22lr elevation in a full value 7-10mph wind at say 100yrd and lets say the rifle was already zero`d to that range?I was taught that a tail and head wind will never have a value so they are 0 value but in practice i have found that with .22 the head wind tends to pick the bullet up slightly and the tail wind seems to drop them down a bit, have you encountered that As to the affect of the cross wind you would have to experiment, as I know from experience that two identical rifles and ammunition will behave slightly differently, but at 10
  6. Nice. Looks like you have better weather than we have at the minute!
  7. Yes rich the cross wind has quite a pronounced affect on the elevation, and the stronger the wind the greater the affect. On the ranges we notice a bigger difference with the fast but lighter .223, than we do with the slower but heavier .308. It is one of the biggest unexplained mysterys in elevation, if you are not aware of it.
  8. Yes rich and you can see that with ballistic tables. It is only at the unrealistic ranges that the .22 starts to take the advantage but then the drop is horrendous.
  9. Load the footage into movie maker, then split the footage to the bit you want slowing down. Then go to "edit" then "speed" and choose the speed. Windows 7 will do it, xp won't, not sure about Vista. Hope this helps.
  10. At entry level you have Windows movie maker, on Windows 7. How good the slow mo will be though will depend upon how many frames per second the footage is recorded in.
  11. I can send you some tomoz when I get back to my computer. If you are working with a quarter min of angle scope, work on 16 clicks for 200y, reducing by 2 clicks for each reduction of 10y, back to 150. i.e.14 clicks at 190, 12 clicks at 180 etc. This is based on 100m, or 109y zero.
  12. Bring back some rangefinders and rulers, for some of the members you have recently commented on. Lol.
  13. Shoot a 3 or 5 rounds at a given aiming mark, and unless you call a flyer as you shoot, measure the distance between the two furthest hits, centre to centre, or edge to edge. I agree leamo, I have colleages who will shoot 5 rounds and then only measure the best 3 which is b+locks. We have probably all shot a few rounds, where the first ones have been clover leafing and then later ones have been a bit further away.
  14. .338. I am not quite sure what you are getting at, but if 2 shooters are next to each other and 1 reads the wind as 15 mph or m/s, and the other reads it as 25mph or m/s, it matters not, provided that they they always use the same data for that given estimation. The issue comes with "app" shooters, who rely on the technology, but input the wrong data, because they can't read all of the signs. As you know, winds are rarely constant for the whole trajectory.
  15. nothing can predict a gust of wind only a stable wind can be predicted Totally agree but that affects all bullets, and with both the hmr and the .22rf you have to be aware of that more than other calibres. I think sometimes, because people see long range kills with both of these two calibres on you tube, they think that is the norm, and of course it isn't. Reduce the range in the wind and enjoy the long range kills when its still. (or even better when its about 1mph)
  16. Wind affects all bullets, so do blades of grass, and temperature. The difference with wind and temperature are that they are a science and are predictable, so can be adjusted for, no matter what the bullet provided the correct input is used in the calculations.
  17. Full value crosswind, 10mph. The bullet will turn with the wind about 3.5 inches at 100yds, and 15.5 inches at 200yds. What ever you hear to the contrary, all my tests show it better than .22rf in the wind. i.e. less deflection. Of course this is greater than a cf. Don't be afraid of the wind, just learn to read it, and then adjust or aim off.
  18. Over 100 can mean a straight ban. Take it to court. A decent solicitor should be able to argue the toss over the accuracy of the laser.
  19. I seem to remember a video that the dunc put up of a rabbit twitching when touched with a knife. I cant find that thread to add this video to, but this is awsome, my lads are out after some frogs today
  20. Good work pal. Whether it will make a difference with the hares though is a different matter. Good little write up.
