  1. Dont know if these are any use to you, there a 3 in October, but I cant vouch for their content. http://www.shooting-...airs/index.html
  2. I'll do some digging on the internet, but I think the Midland is one of the last big ones.
  3. Loads of black and the occasional ginger ones around us on the penines, we are seeing some were weve not seen them before, and no sign of mixy. Should be a good season coming up for the ferrets. Dont know why but most farmers I ferret for dont want the "black uns" killing.
  4. Ok John. I will concede on this one because we at least agree the issue is one of not being able to do it without custom mounts. As I said, I am not to big to hold my hands up. Thanks for what has been an interesting thread, and I hope to speak again with you on other threads in the future. ATB.
  5. John. Having read your above, I can also add, that I dont have "an issue" with the diagram or the concept that you are showing me, it is just not what I am talking about. If you placed two scopes of the same dimensions, other than the tube diameter, on a flat surface, with no mounts, then they would sit identically on that surface, and the centre of each tube, would be identical as well. Quite clearly though, you would need different sized mounts, to set them on the rifle in the same position. The height of the centre of each tube would then still be the same, as to would be your head position
  6. John. Without turning this into a petty argument your diagram is showing you how to get a larger diameter objective by using a smaller tube. One of yours shows a 5mm clerance and one shows a 7 mm clearance. The overall difference being 3mm on your you different objective lens example. This would be reduced if both objective lens were the same diameter and set at the same height. The centre of a tube, is the centre of a tube, it doesn't matter what the diameter is. Now, if you can't get mounts that allow you to mount them the same height, then that is different. John. thanks for the banter, I a
  7. Okay, it must be the way that I am expressing my self. Take two scopes, one 3-9x56 with a 25mm tube. The other 3-9x56 with a 30mm tube. The 30mm tubed scope can be mounted with lower mounts due to the scope tube being bigger or to put it another way you would need high mounts with the 25mm tube but would only need med mounts with the 30mm tube. The resultant is that you have a better cheek weld with the stock. John John. I still choose to disagree with the above due to the reasons given in comments by myself on post 8 and Alycidon on post 11, I think it is. If you have a scope, w
  8. John. I found this an interesting thread because it makes me look at things from a different angle. I have not seen a nv sight on a civilian rifle before, except the new digital ones. What sort of effective range does it have, for identifying foxes for example?
  9. AWP, 20" fluted barrel, 168gr sierra matchking bthp, PM11 scope..............a dream to shoot with!
  10. My PM11 scope has 34mm tube and my PM1 scope as far as I can tell has 30mm tube. They both have 50mm objective lenses. I have already said that I dont know if the internal parts are based on 25mm or not. One thing is for certain is that the newer 34mm tube is brighter than the 30mm tube-for whatever reason. I do know that the larger internal lenses will transmit the light more effectively, similar to a larger lens on a camera will generally transmit light better. I am not quite sure what we are discussing here because we both agree on the main reason the tubes are larger. As for 60mm objectiv
  11. The S and B scopes I use both have 50mm objective lenses. This means the centre of the tube, no matter what the size 25, 30 or 34 would be at the same height off the bore. It is the size of the objective lense that determines that, and how high you choose to mount it.
  12. I think what I really meant, was that they often produce brighter images because the internal lenses are often bigger, which can then transmit the light more effectively. If we compare a S&B 30mm tube against the 34mm tube, then it is quite clearly slightly brighter. But as we agree on the main reason is for a greater adjustment range.
  13. I really dont know. I cant see S & B, IOR, Swarovski etc doing that. Cheaper manufacturer's may do for the reason quoted. It also doesnt explain why some tubes are 34mm and 35mm !!
  14. Depends what you are using it for, but will genrally let more light through, and sometimes it is required for a greater range of adjustment.
  15. Anybody any experience of an adult jill, killing young 12 week jills from another litter. At the moment she wont take to them and they are seperate. I wont be bothered when they are fully grown cos they can give it back, but i dont want to loose them now. Any advice appreciated because I have not had this before.
  16. Flipping heck, thats a good bag. Now my .17hmr is a good little rifle, but couldnt get as many as you around here without a .22. They so much better for loads'a bunnies.
  17. Drops you onto the ferret just perfect. Use it as per the instructions and it is the dogs nuts. Mine is anyway.
  18. Sending them 1st thing in morning Country Joe
  19. As Simonrocco says, but I would definatley go with spun poly, handles a little similar to hemp, but with none of the hassle, maintanance wise. Go for either of the Loomis needles that Agouti sells, they are far better than conventional ones, and you can do a whole three and half footer on one load, so their is no joining twine half way through. http://www.agouti-nets.co.uk/shop.htm
  20. Nice vid, not bad from a phone, HD makes a difference........some good 1 shot kills there, good sport.
