  1. Shot the cheytac in Wales last year with solid copper bullets. Awesome bit of kit but the rifle itself looked a little busy. The 5.56 is in effective in its current theatre in a lot of situations, as it just doesn't have the stopping ability on somebody that doesn't have the same thought process as westerners. Hence the return of the 7.62 sharpshhoter LM7 and the HK 417. Only 100 yards? Never mind the SA80 Ive heard after reading some posts about the HMR the army are looking at replacing the 50cal barrett  already on its way mate .408 chey tac, mind you dont know how it would

  4. Quite legal and easy provided that your reason for doing so fits within the General Licence and certain other requirements such as adequate food shelterand water for call birds. Loads of info on the internet if you are unsure. Try BASC website for starters.
  5. Photography, fly fishing for wild browns, hill and mountain walking, but spending time with the kids mostly trying to give them a headstart in life.
  6. Sorry if this went up yesterday, but I have only just read about it. As someone who has two young boys who both shoot shotgun, this can only be good news http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/mobile/uk-16604554
  7. Certainly the best close ups I have seen of the old ghost of the night. Brilliant
  8. and what happens when a small blast of wind takes the round off target and it makes a hole through the jaw breaking it, rendering the animal unable to eat. yes ive seen foxs run when hit with a 22.250 but the chance is greatly reduced with a 22cf i have also shot a fox at 50yrd with a hmr in the head and its ran off. the round had not expanded, the fox was licking its nuts when i took the shot, it went in through the top of its head out the roof of its mouth through the side of its bottom jaw breaking it and then out. i finished it off with a 410 to the back of the ear, if it wasnt for the
  9. It happens to us all at times, depending upon your permission, weather etc
  10. Some hard ferreting there by the looks, but a very good bag.
  11. Nice shooting. We are the same, nearly all dogs at minute.
  12. I dont bother cleaning them, as even when dirty they stand out a mile from nets of drab colours, or the natural greens and browns. Even a dirty dayglo net is almost impossible to loose, unless it has been dragged down a hole by a bunny or ferret, and you have missed the fact that that has happened, because other stuff has been happening. I find most of the thick mud drops off when dry. Hope this helps.
  13. Great stuff. I like the top picture, was that with an ND filter or was it just a long exposure. All of them great those.
  14. Nice warm light on the old mallard.
  15. Nice pics and write up. Where is that Brimmer? I dont mean the exact location, but what county or region of the country. It looks similar to parts of Derbyshire.
  16. Great pics, and countryside close to my heart. Although I now live in the peninnes, I spent many a day on the south Shropshire hills ferreting or in the summer collecting billberries. I think Shropshire would be my ideal county to live in.
  17. A good enjoyable morning with the dogs and ferrets. Some nice kept hedgerows in the background of one of of the pics. Reminds me of some of the ferreting I used to do in south east Shropshire.
  18. Thanks. Its great to see so many people realise that the kids of today are the hunters of tommorrow. I for one think it is really important not to breed that instinct out of a bloodline. I agree, and that doesn't just go for hunting, but traditional cooking, traditional music/poems, tarditional stories and such like will all be forgotten if we don't pass them on down the generations. It's up to us that hundreds of years of culture are kept and passed onto the next generation for them to enjoy and experience. It's sad to say but even local dialects and in some real bad cases acce
  19. Great mate. Love those high cornish hedgerows, and that little brown terrier looks a cracker
