  1. You can turn up any time mate, I'll let Mary and Emma know that you'll be late and we'll keep the front gate open.. sure there'll be a few of us sat around the fire with a beer to welcome you anyway! lol No worries on bringing a pup, mines been coming since she was 12 weeks old! lol
  2. She thinks she's still 4 mate, unfortunately her body is starting to remind her she's ten... we'll have a f**k about again this season, nothing too strenuous but enough to keep us both happy..
  3. Brilliant that mate... How many traditions must have been lost now? its sad to think we maybe the last generation to remember these types of traditions and more so still participate.. I've tried to show the kids as much as possible growing up, but none has the real bug for hunting and fishing I did as a youngster, it's pretty much all I thought about lol.. Fin will go fishing a fair bit to be fair, right into his spinning for bass at the minute, had a half decent one last week in Cornwall.
  4. This has all ended now, we got out on the last season with this crew, the old boy who ran this boat is no longer with us, lived into his 90s a family friend as my mum grew up in Topsham and we were all from a mile up river in Countess Weir... My mums family worked the river like this for over 50 years, my Uncle Den is still about 93 now and fit as f**k, has 4 ferrets a couple of chickens and was still wildfowling 2 years back... i saw him 2 weeks ago as I picked an old Vauxhall Frontera up from him, he needed it gone was his old dog truck.. Fin (my lad) is thinking of doing it up and putting i
  5. Mad how quick it goes mate.. yeah Jim done a great job on that litter, 13 pups and they were all in top nick.. cost me a holiday in west coast Scotland before the trip over to Arbroath, the kids didn't know we were getting a pup, they were going mad when the pups came running out lol Jim's a top lad, we stayed the day with him, he made us scones with cream and jam because we were up from Devon, had dinner with them, then done an overnight drive from Arbroath to Exeter...luckily the pup was worth the trip..lol
  6. Good read lads... good input in the main. She's 10 now, whins Rex (SalxGrey/Whip) to Haymins bith Mist (Bull x).. She's done a bit of everything other than around holes over the years, pretty much done what it says on the tin.. no world beater but a good honest dog who's been a pleasure to own..

Building is my job mate, I build things from the ground up...lots and lots of things... I.also renovated houses for rental or sale, I've f****d about like this for 30 years...I can turn my hand to mist things, but I have chippies, sparks, plumbers, brickies etc who are better than me at their trades...so I get them to do it... my core work is steelwork and cladding systems, big units, commercial/industrial...that's my trade... but I'm happy to turn my hand to most things when I'm in the mood lol

Going back to the start. . Wilf asked about metal sheet roofing, not slate, I gave some advice on what he asked and what I know about.. I've got his email and will send him some details and hopefully a bit of help on buying the stuff if I can.. My grandad was a roofer, pour and roll flat roofing, traditional felt roofing, my dad and both uncles are/were roofers the same as my grandad.. my old man is 74 and was on a roof 3 months ago as he can't say no lol... my grandad was at it into his 70s.... I never went down that road though, was always into the bigger commercial/industrial bui

I don't do slate roofing, so wouldn't comment much on it... Over the past 30 years I've pretty much worked on most types of commercial and industrial builds from the ground up, was asked by the holding company of KFC to redesign their existing building envelope to improve the air tightness, this was rolled out nationwide, we built them from Penzance to Glasgow, had to sit countless meeting with architects and other contractors to ensure our details were rolled out, I believe this became the details for all KFC drive through builds after... we had a large supermarket contract, steel, roofi
