It's like anything mate you get what you pay for, they are fairly cheaply made (im talking bog standtadx type), minimal insulation, cheap finishings, mostly plastic etc.. from Wilfs posts he's looking to do a decent robust job, he's got a few acres and I'd say if he's putting something on it A) it needs to look right and B ) be somewhere he's happy for his daughter to live... I don't think he's going for the Gypsy Camp Chic lol
-
If Wilf wanted a quick pile of shit sat on his land he would've got a cheap static and lived with the damp, drafts, cold in Winter boiling hot in the summer etc.... he wants to build a decent, robust, smart home for his daughter... McHull would have her living in a garden shed, maybe chuck her an extra blanket come December lol

Thank you very much mate.. I'll pm my address.. much appreciated
-
We'll be doing the barbie on Sunday mate so anything to add to that would be great.. Gonna do Jacket souds in the fire with Chilli on the Friday night and Joe is doing slow cooked pork rolls for Saturday night

Mate I live in a house that dates back to 1054, with add ons through the tudor and Georgian eras...insulation no, double glazing no....but... If I was building a new house I'd insulate the floors, walls and roof..I'd choose a pitched roof as I think they look better for starters, plus give you a vaulted ceiling so increasing head room.... but as with everything else you've probably built more than anyone else on here, there aint much you don't know about eh

He's,building a small home for his daughter to live in, not a kennel for his dogs...
-
Yeah i heard the slates were crap mate, never fitted any myself ... but the fibre cement sheets (like old asbestos), is decent for what Wilf needs..

We used to catch the eels with our hands as kids...same as you wade in the small steams that run into the Exe, we would turn the stones and scoop the eels up onto the mud banks, we'd get loads...my mum used cut up the bigger ones and fry them in butter, she loved them.. My Dad told me my grandad would catch them by wrapping offal in wool, he drop it off a small bridge and leave it over high tide, this was over the same stream we would scoop them... the eels would get their teeth caught in the wool and he'd go back a few hours later and pull them up...never seen it done but no reason to d

That's our plan completely mate... I read a book called Dream Fishing by a bloke called Trevor Housby as a kid... he would land in some remote place and fish for sharks or tarpon etc, or head out fishing for marlin off of Mexico.. but his story telling and pics was amazing for a 13 year old who was catching perch on the canal..lol.. One chapter was all about the keys, Tarpon and bone fish I think...I always said I'd fish it one day, I'll be a year short of 50 when I do so I hope the wait will be worth it...lol

Love that mate.. We used to collect cockles and winkles in the Exe estuary, not to sale just to eat.. My mums side of the family has worked the Exe estuary for years, seine neys for salmon (now banned completely, they abd another family, the Pyms were the last to have the licenses. I. Managed to get my lad out for a day a youngster on their last season, we had 4 salmon, proper hard graft, I loved it.. my cousin works eel traps on the river now, they are all smoked locally abd sent to London, fetch a fair lump in the fancy restaurants. He also works a few long lines for bass and bream

That's a decent price mate, staying in Orlando i guess?
-
Yeah that's my plan mate.. You can hire a boat with fish finder, GPS abd live baits well, it works out about £1200 for the 10 days... I didn't think that was too bad as it'll be used everyday by us, my lad can take it out as well as he is decent in a boat... I'll be up early most mornings for a fish.. The thene parks have never been my thing and the kids aren't bothered so that'll save a few quid for the boat hire lol
-
We're going over Christmas, I'm not interested in theme parks etc, so flying into Miami and heading down to the Keys.. my kids are adults, pretty much, so we're hiring a big villa off Air bnb, flights separately (virgin was best price).. plan is to hire a self drive boat for the 10 days and head off to the islands, fish most days and cook up on the barbie... we'll hire a mini bus for going down there... me and the wife are staying on when the kids go back and doing a tour around, trying to get across to California to fly home, but no booked ticket so we might jack after a few days travelling a

Where are you mate? County? Sorry i forgot... I'll see what I can find out for you, I could send some standard details if you pm your email mate, not sure of I've still got it...mind you your probably not using the old one lol

I should've said vented foam fillers at eaves abd ridge.. the good thing with them is they are made to suit the sheets profile.. There's a few way to do it, but air flow is important..
-
There's a couple ways of doing it mate, using a vented foam filler under the sheet along the eaves line..or making a soffit detail and venting the soffit... I'd seriously consider using cement fibre sheets in lieu of metal though mate... Eternit are the company to look at. I'd use the profile 3 sheet...infact ove put a bit on a barn here and when/if I properly renovated that one, it the way I'd go with the roof

Haha...very similar replies at the same time.. Get out of my head!! Lol

Completely agree mate, Whyte is a big step up, but probably the right one.. whyte won't ever be back in Championship contention, so this is a big pay packet for him it's win win for Whyte regardless of the outcome... I'd say Ituamas camp know that Whyte is a calculated risk, as I said I hope he wins as it would put him up another peg and we need these young lads coming through in the heavies..
-
I read the other day that Whyte has been knocked out in sparring, I don't think that should be leaked from the gym...but... it looks to be true, you'd be a bit worried considering how heavy handed Ituama looks if his punch resistance is on the wain? I'm looking forward to it as well mate, its the right fight for Ituama at those stage imo, I hope he comes through it in style as I like what I've seen so far and it's a lad you could see going places.
-
Think I may have said before mate, use a coloured fibre cement sheet on the roof.. fairly cheap, last forever, you can get in slate blue or a dark grey etc, plus they reduce the noise of rain beating on them. I think they look really smart for those type of small rural builds, they don't sweat so a bit more forgiving if you don't get the air flow right... need any help on bits give me a shout mate...
-
Yeah must be a bugger dragging those mains cables up and down the canals.... only reason I'd never do it lol
-
That bream looks a decent size mate... nice one
-
Just seen this Charts, glad he's been found and is on the mend... what a worrying time for his family..
-
My suspicion is Walshie, ot appeared after the first fishing comp lol

It's just such a shit subject, and I bet we've all been affected by it... Lost a 20 year old lad last year to suicide, worked with us for a couple of years with his Dad who I've worked with for over 20 years ..its completely destroyed his Dad, a great lump of man, great steel worker, tough old f****r, to see him cry everytime he tries to talk to me is devastating... there is nothing you can say to ease the pain, we've tried to help in many ways over the past year, but the upshot is his lad walked into a park with a length of electric cable in a rucksack and hung himself from a tree... wha
