    Went ferreting today on a new bit we used 10 yrd stop nets along the hedge at 20 yrd intervals with a lurcher either side my beddy whip on 1 side and my mates the other. It was a good day and the 2 dogs worked really well, my mates dog is 5 and showed his experiance you always knew where the next bolt would be just by watching him, my pup done well too hit the hedge a couple of times to push a rabbit out to the nets and holding in the nets until I got there, she had a good run when a rabbit bolted from where we had moved the nets she jumped the 2 nets in her way and was right on the rabbit to

    Had our first run out on some new permission today, I took the dogs up yesterday evening to have a look around and there were a few rabbits about , it's a big piece of land with arable fields and sheep fields, quite hilly the land goes up to a large wood, nice land. I had brought my Jack Russell and my young Whip Bed ( Martha), Micky had brought his terrier ( top marking dog) and his lurcher. Decided to ferret a long hedge row between 2 arable fields after the terriers showed interest , we decided to use 4, 10 yard stop nets a side coming out from the hedge at around 20 yrd apart and purse n

    That's basicaly what I do mate, put one loop through your belt loop and pass other through it so it's attached to you, pas the end through the dogs collar and when you slip the dog you don't lose your lead.

    On our walk today my jrt caught a rabbit in the brambles and brought it out to me she's pretty quick through the bushes and catches a few herself, every walk includes a bit of bushing for me the jrt pushing to 2 whip x beddys ( 1's my bros but I have her most days), it's good fun mate and keeps the dogs on their toes.

    They were an accidental mating, mate. Ask her if she would have done this mating intentionaly. I wish her the best of luck with them, but I'd bet she would be the first to admit they wouldn't be her preffered mating. Cheers. I know they were an accident mate, but in a thread a few weeks back she said she would've liked to introduce this blood into her line years ago, saying they added nose, feet and brain. I don't know if it would be a preffered mating but she seems really pleased with them.

    Aint that the sad truth.......and can you blame them..... Myself and a few pals often take the ol boys down the Hammers we are all big strong chaps yet these olduns feel much safer with us than having to walk along next to some bunch of spotty kids puffing their chests out thinking their tough if they barge a few year old pensioners !......the crazy thing is when we walk in their eyes light up and they are so grateful,when in reality its them doing us the favour merely by sharing the last bit of their lives with us.     Some of the most interesting people have spent a little time inside,he sounds a character,as we become more civilised such individuals are becoming rarer. He was a character for sure mate, pretty much all of black rock was smoking baccy or cigs that he had brought in on his little orkney fishing boat after late night rendevous at sea

    Absolutely right.....im not big on pubs but often go in a chosen few just to sit nattering ( mostly listening ) to the ol boys in their 70,s and ,s i find them fascinating.....great source of learning as well ......They are a generation who will be sorely missed by our society.......our society just dont know it yet ! 100% spot on mate...... I'd give pretty much anything to spend some more time with the people who helped shape my future, the problem is you think they're gonna be here forever then one day bang! they're gone.
