I'm gonna have to virtually cook me own then.........

I saw the same one i think, some redneck hicks who drove carrying a stepladder in the back of their truck looking for horses to rape, and a fat overweight bird who had sexual relations with her dog, there was also a small community of oddballs who had animal sex-partners. Thats the one mate, my missus had to go bed half way through said it made her feel sick. Some type of morbid curiousity made me watch it to the end, there was a couple who got together through there "love" of animals, he said he knew she was the one when they went out to see her horse together and she was so horny she had

Thanks Mate I thought I had seen he had a lot of collie in his make up, it sounds like he's the ideal dog for the land you run, and alien to what some think it is'nt just speed that puts game in the bag. If you ever do breed off of him what would you breed with? Cheers

Nice one mate,

You may see a difference mate once he has been out working with them ( by the sounds of it he hasn't yet), keep a close eye on him whilst working and start with small sets where you can be in close control. I've found I've got to be a lot harder with the terrier in all disciplining than I am with the lurcher. I wouldn't let them feed together though mate as he may feel threatened and possesive and it will only take one quick snap to lose a ferret. Maybe put him on a lead in the garden when the ferrets are out, if he even makes a move towards them a sharp pull on the lead and a firm "no" until

Well done lads another top bag, am I right in thinking that the Don Dog is more collie than grey?

Top day there mate well done

Nice photos mate, looks like you had a good day well done mate.

Good points mate Your dead right that your approach to them has to be right, also a lot is word of mouth, I've picked up a bit recently from a friend who's got greyhound kennels on a small bit of land surrounded by farmland. I recently put up some new kennels for them, asked about the land around him and a phone call later was given permission. It's not the best to be honest but runs onto other good land I've asked the farmer the name of the people to speak to around him and he's said he'll put a word in for me then I can call. Also sometimes providing another service can help, we were asked

whats every bodys favourate ferret colour
NEWKID replied to barney rubble's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Mine definately get looked after as working pets, the kids love em there all named, ridiculous names too, and I do have a lot of affection for them. But I don't care what colour they are I've 2 pole cats and 3 albinos but they could be any colour I would'nt mind, as long as they're not biting the shit out of me or the kids ( never had or seen one of these "beautiful" eu polecats but they sound a bit mental to me) and they bolt rabbits out of holes thats good enough for me. -
Cracking looking fish mate, good luck on topping the 13lber

Well done mate, never tied my own nets, I might give it a go now

Same mix as mine mate, as said good around the ferrets and coming on well lamping really easy to train and everything we've done so far she's took to well. Brothers got first x beddy whip, different temp altogether, very head strong, a lot more like my jack russel in her ways( you can tell there's more terrier in the mix), is constantly working, just started on the lamp and is hunting up badly needs a bit of a firmer hand I think in training. She doesn't seem to want to please you as much as please herself, but when it all comes together for her she could turn out good, as her drive is really

thanks very much lad of here sorted me out earlier though No worries mate, glad you got it sorted, All the best

a lamping mate of mine has same cross as you mate just turnd 8 year old but one hell of a dog Mines still young mate around 15 mnths, but I'm really pleased so far, she's very steady and is coming on well on the lamp, runs the beam well and recall is really good, retrieve is a working project but we'll get there or there abouts , I'm sure she's gonna be a good alround rabbiting dog, she works with my terrier bushig and ferreting too. Her downsides are she's a bit nervy especially around dogs she doesn't know, I don't know why as she was well socialised as a pup and I think another co

yeh that would start me stuttering,, feck that,, hare coursing maybee,, but not for bunnys Fair comment Got to be honest I could never see myself paying a farmer to do their pest control, no matter how much I enjoy it

Cheers lads, last year I worked on a farm ( doing roof repairs) I had the dogs with me and the farmer invited me up for a night with the dog because he was impressed with how she was around his cattle etc he was a shooter and wanted to see the dog run. Now she's going ok I'll take her up and have a night out with him, As I'm getting back into it after a while out the old permission we had has gone ( some of it completely gone, housing estates on one bit and tescos + industrial estate on another) and it seems the attitude towards lurchers in particular is different. I don't think it takes the

Wasn't as good as I hoped last night mate, the wind dropped and it was clear had a few runs and started my bros pup off, bit of work to do there spent a lot of time calling her back, but it'll come. We managed 1 but a lot of this permission empty not a rab in sight, think mixy may have hit hard here. Still better out than in
-
Your right lads good permission is hard to come by, I walked some permission last night and there was hardly a rabbit on it just makes you go off permission. I'll get hard at the ferreting on this new bit and he'll see in the day my dogs can be trusted, and that will hopefully allow some night time work.
-
I got a 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy, for ferreting and lamping rabbits and she's doing fine, but if I'm honest I wish she was a bit bigger so I agree in principal with wilf. I'll be getting another lurcher once I'm happy she is performing as well as I can get her to, it's all coming together now so maybe next summer I'll get another pup in to work with her and my terrier in the day and lamp with. I would say by the sounds of your post and what you want to do you wouldn't want to go too small, also definately 1 at a time get something that covers all bases and you may only want 1.

Went to see an old farmer friend yesterday who has a load of land to ask about permission, he nearly bit my hand off when I said about the ferrets but went a lot more coy when I mentioned running the lurcher on the lamp. I've done work for him in the past and known him a long time so he knows I'm trustworthy etc, I think after a while he'll let me on at night and until then I've got a load of ferreting to do as he reckons he's over run, I hope he's right. It got me thinking how hard it is now to get permission as said I know this bloke well enough so what chance do you have cold calling?
