  1. Agree with Tyla I'm sure there would be someone who would love a day out with their ferrets on some new permission, at least then you know if it's for you before getting ferrets. You may find youself a ferreting partner too, it's always easier with a couple of you. Good luck Mate
  2. Good write up mate and another THL Bromance.
  3. Yeah sounds good, could do with the cover dying away on this bit as well, we'll get something sorted once we've had a decent frost. Some decent bags as well mate nice one
  4. Good read mate, sound like a good day out. I took out this years jill for her first run yesterday, she was messing a fair bit couldv'e done with a rabbit giving her a whack into the air
  5. Hi Mate Just getting going properly now mate sept was a bit hectic, ther's a huge ground bury on this bit we'll do when it dies down you're welcome up then we'll need a few hands on it. Going for a walk on another new bit in Cullompton this week, been told there's a fair few rabbits on it we could sort a day up there as well. Have you been out lately?
  6. Cheers, how tall did your bitch reach? She's around 19 inches mate, the dogs in the litter went bigger up to around 22"
  7. As said with a decent knife and pliers can be a pain in the ass but they get easer once you've done a few, OK eating with the added bonus of no bones as they are a member of the shark family so they have a a length of tubular cartlidge running down their body. Personally I put em back because I don't think they're good enough eating to warant the hassle of skinning just my opnion.
  8. Martha 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy these are old photos she's around 16mnths now and doing well on rabbits, ferreting lamping and bushing with the terrier
  9. good pictures and write up mate, it's nice when all starts to click with the pup eh.
  10. I've got a 3/4 1/4 whip beddy and she's been easy to train, good round the ferrets, good nose and works around the edge of the bushes when the terriers in, her recalls good but her retrieve is hit and miss on the lamp and she never yaps which I've heard can be a problem. Her Downside for me I wish she was a couple of inches taller, mainly for lamping it don't make much difference ferreting or bushing when she's on the rabbits instantly,I think she'll excell at ferreting and bushing but be a fun lamping dog rather than a top one. My brothers got a first x beddy whip she's got a different temp
  11. LOL know what you mean mate I seem to be in a constant state of tiredness, whilst the dgs lead the good life

  16. Went ferreting today on a new bit we used 10 yrd stop nets along the hedge at 20 yrd intervals with a lurcher either side my beddy whip on 1 side and my mates the other. It was a good day and the 2 dogs worked really well, my mates dog is 5 and showed his experiance you always knew where the next bolt would be just by watching him, my pup done well too hit the hedge a couple of times to push a rabbit out to the nets and holding in the nets until I got there, she had a good run when a rabbit bolted from where we had moved the nets she jumped the 2 nets in her way and was right on the rabbit to
  17. Had our first run out on some new permission today, I took the dogs up yesterday evening to have a look around and there were a few rabbits about , it's a big piece of land with arable fields and sheep fields, quite hilly the land goes up to a large wood, nice land. I had brought my Jack Russell and my young Whip Bed ( Martha), Micky had brought his terrier ( top marking dog) and his lurcher. Decided to ferret a long hedge row between 2 arable fields after the terriers showed interest , we decided to use 4, 10 yard stop nets a side coming out from the hedge at around 20 yrd apart and purse n

  19. That's basicaly what I do mate, put one loop through your belt loop and pass other through it so it's attached to you, pas the end through the dogs collar and when you slip the dog you don't lose your lead.
