Funnily enough I was watching that river monsters when I put the post up and he was fishing the amazon, what an experience.. You must have loved that mate... I've fished a few places on my hols, caught a few dorado in Barbados, caught snapper, needle fish and a few unknowns plus smashed to pieces by barracuda when spinning off the rocks in St Lucia ( that was great fun)... Really fancy a proper safari type trip...off the beat and track type of thing..

What about doc leaves for stinging nettle stings, that works.... Plus they make great toilet roll when caught short in the woods lol..

I'm sure my mum thinks cod liver oil is the cure of everything, I suffer a bit with my back now, she reckons that's because I never kept up my cod liver regime lol..

Used to keep tumblers and rollers when I was a kid, spent hours watching them fly and roll, the loft is still empty at my dads house.. We hand reared a racing bird that was gifted from a keen racing man, never raced her but she was so tame would land on you in the garden we called her Bo.. Might get some again in the future

Up the hospital again with my wife, today should be the last operation she needs to have, been a crap couple of years for her but hopefully after this one it's all done...... Been here since 7-30, read Sea Angler, Anglers Mail and my batteries nearly gone so even ThL will be gone soon.. Lol

The sand eels have just started to be caught in the couple of local estuarys, so the bass will be right behind... the schoolies tend to stay in the estuaries but the fishing picks up may onwards the bigger fish normally showing late summer early autumn.. I was talking to a mate the other day who is out in his boat almost everyday ( lucky b*****d lol) he said the water temp is still a bit low ( around 9 degrees), also a lot of may water down here the last couple of weeks, won't be long though..

Our local canal has changed a lot over the years, it's very deep for a canal ( over 12ft in places) and wide, it's not like your traditional cut.. It was made because of a dispute between Exeter and Topsham over the shipping up the river Exe, Eventually ( not sure on dates but quite a few hundred years back lol) a weir was formed up the river to stop all shipping into Exeter, forcing all ships to stop in Topsham ( where my mother was born), the weir was named countess weir after the countess of Devon, the area near the weir is called Countess Wear and that's where I was born and bred lol... T

That's the way Wilf, my lads 7 now my girls 5, I'm worried there will never be a peaceful fishing trip again lol... I love that enthusiasum they have though, you can easily forget how simple fishing should and can be, fortunately the kids soon remind you... A 2oz roach is greeted like a 20lb carp by a 7 year old lol..

i think id rather follow a manager who has won f**k all than one of the most successful managers ever.............. Moyes has to follow the model set with the guidance of the man who set it, Everton could find themselves losing a few players with no way of replacing them, it'll be a tough job for someone..

Yeah it's no surprise, fergies made it clear for a long while who he wanted to take over... UTD don't need a superstar manager, the foundations are there, Moyes may not have won anything but he's no mug, Everton have offered him very little in terms of money or backing and he's still managed to do a very good job... Plus Fergie ain't going far, what a position for a man like Moyes to walk into some of the best players in the world in the pitch and arguably the best manager ever at the top of the stairs to lean on and gain advice ( would Morhinos ego of allowed him to ask Fergie for a bit of a

Exactly, the hunting act is a pile of shit and almost impossible to enforce.. Apart from if you come onto open forums talking about every illegal activity you get up to and thinking because you are hidden behind a user name and speaking in "code" lol, you'll be fine, it's easy pickings..... I love reading about the old times and seeing the geniuinly old photos, but you can't put pre ban beside every photo and think your safe...

Another underrated fish on light gear is the mackerel mate, we free line sand eels in the Teign estuary for bass, 5lb line ( or braid) a swivel hook length and hook fished on a match rod... The bass go well but it's mad the fight a mackerel puts up.... Let us know if your ever down this neck of the woods, could get an evening in on the river or bassing...

Well like most UTD fans I'm gutted to see him go, but it had to happen sooner or later... It took him a few years to get UTD as a club being run his way, the bad old habits out and once he had it running properly it became a machine... He has not only produced some of the best teams we've seen in this country, he has made UTD what it is today.... Whoever walks into that job is in a million times better position to the club Fergie inherited.... Good luck to whoever comes in, it'll be tough for anyone to follow him, but surely it's the dream job for any manager...
