  3. The whippets looking in great shape Jai, as far as 2 dogs goes, we always have a dog either side of the hedge... nothing stops the terrier though ( I doubt a wall would )

  5. if im honest my best days ferreting was when i first started over 20 years ago, i must of been around 8, boting rabbits into the nets, terriers getting pheasnts in the hedge rows, out in the snow, freezing cold but loved it, those memmorees will stay with me forever, but im sure ill have a good season just as good soon !Haha, I know what you mean mate, everything was so exiting as a kid...That's why taking the little ones takes you back a bit now and a couple of rabbits with them is as good as a big bag without them...it's 30 years since I first went hunting or fishing I'm reliving it all t

  9. Cheers for the replies lads, There was loads of mushies about this year, so made for some nice eating, a mate right into it and brought us down the ceps one day while we were ferreting. The casserole was nice Terry, 1 pot cookings my thing

  12. Don't know about my best day ever, it's been a long time ( on and off ).... but I enjoyed all of these days Day with my lad First day just with my little girl ( she was 4) 22 but most bolted to the dogs, great sport Big number day

They're young mate as said... everytime you feed them, make the same noise I make a squeaking sound, handle them once theyve had a bit of feed making a sound, let them associate you and the sound plus food as all good things, when your out make the same sound and they will be less skitty, as they get older they will come to the sound which is useful on thick hedges if they're up on top

From the minute the dog marks, to carefully laying the nets, to entering the ferreting then i love watching the dog following the ferret up the hedge side, stopping and standing stock still, shivering in anticipation ... you know whats coming because she's telling you.... Man, ferret and dog working together.. Oh and Monday morning a good couple of hours finding splinters from your finger tips to your elbows... we must be mad

  19. Recent trips, a nice casserole, and a bonus of some cep mushrooms... oh and the day we jacked ferreting and decided to pick field mushrooms instead another Chicken farm hedge Rabbits and ceps Chicken, rabbit and cep mushroom casserole had 3 out of this tree
  20. During a chat with SeanC yesterday he commented on my lack of posting on the ferreting this year, so I thought I'd chuck a few photos and a little report up... Sunday was meant to be a trip up the road to a large chicken farm, I've only lamped this place so far and it's full of rabbits so I was keen to get stuck in, I had to phone the farm manager in the morning and set up where we could get at, unfortunately he hadn't managed to speak to his boss ( the owner) who lived on the farm and was reluctant to let us on with out letting him know....
