Keep the springer, your welcome to borrow my AAs410c though and see how you like it -
Just as Scott says, zero at 25m and 'generally speaking' your mildot holdover will be 1-ish mildot per 5m increment in distance - generally, this does depend on you pellet weight and ftlbs of your rifle.

Who knows mate, thats between you and the landowner/shooting rights owner. If your going to run a small shoot and a commercial basis you can bet the yearly rent will be expensive compared to you just going in and shooting some fur and feather. For personal private shooting with maybe 1 or 2 guests £200 year? god mate, I dont know! at the end of the day, its what its worth to you...

Great write up, both of you. Great pics too. Would love the chance to join up with you all for a days shoot, as its only 3hrs drive one way Simon, PCP seems at first to be the devils work hahaha, but they do have their place in airgun evolution, in fact Im pretty sure the very first big game/big calibre rifles were pre charged pump ups and were developed long before springers, so another way of looking at it ( just to settle the conscience ofcourse!), is to think of it as going back to grass roots shooting, improved with modern technology -
Welcome to the THL. Weihrauch are imported in to the UK by Hull Cartridge, so no problem with spares. Lots of people using CZ as they are simple, cheap and efficient. Yes the HW are more expensive, but then you are getting a quality product.(not saying CZ arent) If I had the same choice, and both guns were in very good useable condition (assuming your going for 2nd hand) I would go for the HW, however th CZ do represent extremely good value for money I can honestly say there are a lot of CZ owners on here, and not that many HW owners.

LED Lenser P7 Holster/Filter kit
markha replied to markha's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Well, I went out lamping on Saturday night after watching the very poor Wales-France game With the red filter in place the P7's 200 lumens is seriously cut down, with the torch on its wide angle setting its great for lighting the way whilst walking about in the dark, and obviously great on the eyes too. With the P7 zoomed in to spotlight and with the Red Filter on you can easily pick up the orange glow from the eyes of rabbits, sheep and cows etc out to 100yds easily with the MK1 Eyeball. -
Yes very very quiet guns , You should hear how quiet things get with a TWINK MK2! I had a standard AA silencer, that was quiet too, but the Twink, well, no wonder everyone raves about them, definately something to put on the Birthday list.

Thats great mate , go back and read my post again as I added some pics, unless you already saw them.

Mike, I didnt mean my post to be taken that way, I think your first shots for scope set up are great mate, well done I was merely thinking out loud about how good I felt shooting a PCP for the first time, but how with practice it gets even better. I was fustrated at all the things I heard from other shooters who were getting pellet on pellet accuracy at silly ranges, and knowing I was a damn good shot I was pretty gutted to only get loose groupings. I expected much more from the rifle, the thing was, it wasnt the rifle, it was me, I had to adjust.
-
Well done Mr Mole, It wont take too long to get the groups even tighter. One thing that may stand you in good stead is to get the trigger pull weight adjusted to your liking. Another thing that can happen when swapping from springer with recoil to PCP with little to no recoil is 'the mental anticipation of recoil' and how this effects your trigger pull and how you hold the gun. All springers, to a certain extent, can be hold sensitive, I had a HW80 and that lived up to its name of being very 'hold sensitive' with me having to adjust my hold and use of it when shooting from diffent pos

Welcome to THL Paul, its a very good bunch on here, with a lot of members getting out shooting together. All the best.

Hello and welcome to THL Steven. There was a test between 22 177 and 20 in March issue of airgunner magazine, but I do remember seeing something recently with test done on ballistic gel. At the end of the day personally Im not bothered about retained energy, its not the calibre or the speed that matters is correct shot placement at realistic distances for a humane kill, end of thread! For thise who love the calibre debate and retained energy etc, this is from airgun shooter mag: All fugures are for 35yds .177 8.4grn aa fields 7.4ftlbs retained energy 66.1% .20 11.4grn

Tillbill, At the moment im using Eley pigeon 6.5 in 30gm, mainly because I got a good deal on them. Also worth a look are Eley Impax 7's in 28grm as they are also a descent shell.

If you are a member of BASC they will be there to help you, I would call them, thats what you pay your subs for mate.

Buster, Scott Arms, know it well, used to do a bit of drinking in there, and the Towers, Lived in Wolves for a while, by the race course, local was the winning-post. Bloody hell its still there and on facebook, yea thats the one,my grand parents lived in Parliament street which is the road opposite the pub.
-
Yes I have heard of minimum acreage for centrefire calibres up here in North Wales, I have also heard from BASC that its difficult to get centrefire with anything less than 100 acres in North Wales, as I also had a problem, not with land size, but it did come up in the conversation. If your application is for rimfire then that is a very strange thing indeed. If I was you I would ring BASC up and have a chat with them before going any further.

Dont get me started Moley calling his brummy rifle Ken, I have asked him to change it to White Lightning, but he mentioned something about no way he's calling his gun after a cheap cider. Aside from that, well done mate on your first of many, welcome to the world of PCP

Davey, You cant use the 'brick' mate, as a full brick, or a half brick still retain enough energy at ratting ranges to be effective. You would be much better coming up with a method that employed using bricks of the same size, but made from different materials, I did some quick testing of bricks made from different materials and came up with the following list of best uses for each type of brick: House brick - London type - made from brick - best for close range ratting. Rubber brick - shool type - made from solid rubber - best for picking up off bottom of swiming pool. Plastic brick

Pianoman is right, for lamping any old £10 lamp from the petrol station will do, million candle power and a mate to hold it for you Or for hands free something like a high powered torch that clips to your scope, personally Im a convert to LED type lights, they are so much more brighter than a traditional bulb, and the batteries last longer too. Im using a LED Lenser P7 gunmount kit, have been using it for a while now without filters and no problems, its more than enough for air rifle ranges when lamping. There are some very good ones pretty cheap on ebay, I know a lot of guys that us

Buster yam always tyin to pud it on mait, was born in Sandwell hospital years ago, is the flowerpot pub still at the bottom of the hill by the unigate dairy in Westbrom? I miss the black country humour, although the Welsh are a good craic too.

I once had my car broken in to and a cheap radio stolen from it. It cost me the trip to the breakers yard to get the drivers side glass, plus the cost of the glass and then the dirty hands in the course of replacing it, yes I was unemployed and pretty short of cash, they were dark, but fun days. I was well known as being straight to the point and fair in most things, so it wasnt long before someone drops me word of who had broken in to my car. I knew this person and they knew me, so I was very dissappointed to find this out, even when I mentioned that some thieving scroat had broken in t
