Are you happy with him?[/quote there was a litter bred the very same way 2 years previous and anyone ive spoken to about there dogs are as happy as i am . He is Steady minded, confident , bidable .toolk to ferreting like a duck to water, v.good nose ,solid marker. He works cover all year round with a terrier but Hes about 19 months so this is his first proper season lamping but happy with what hes doing so far. in short gaz.. im happy with the trouble i went to, to bring him across the pond. Yeh gaz 21" got him over from your side of the pond, out of a dog called dodger and skye

Good little alround rabbiter. Cant fault him

Maybe a small drop of milk put in whith his water or whisk a raw egg in with a large bowl of water and it might encourage the dog to lap it all up. Then observe the urine next time he goes to see if thats the problem. Another reason maybe that the dogs urine is very rich because you have him on a very good diet, that coupled with low water intake might be the reason for the colour

brenner replied to carp king's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
could be onto something compoThe breed is not at all a new one, it,s register with the KC is relitively new that,s all.sorry for goin off topic but ..an honest question for ye loafer, or anyone that knows a bit on the subject of whippet history.... What is the earliest drawing or mention of a small rabbiting dog that fits the whippets description ? .I do know that if you keep going back far enough back through the whippet archives in my dogs ped ther is a write up attatched to the ped of a champion whippet that describes him and goes on to mention that the dogs coat is smooth, not broken " jus -

Dont know how to add a link but if you google " whippet archives sooty sam" just to use him as one exampel , and keep clicking on any dog in the last generation of ped all the way back to dogs in the early 1900's you will notice that alot of the dogs at that time dont apear any smaller in general to the whippets of today. That being said I have seen some freaks of ped whippets around ( from a couple of different lines aswell as s.sam)that really look like they have thrown back to something else snuck into these tidy peds but they are definitely in the minority from what I can tell. So putting -
Some of the bushers ive been out with are little farm yard bred jack russells of no particular breeding. The type you pick up on done deal. They are so far removed from anything thats seen ground work that the ones ive been out with usually dont drop to ground ( if they do you could call them out) arnt as indapendently minded as an earth dog so stick close when working, which suits me, and are yappy little fuckers by nature so will open up when up on a rabbit or fox in cover and are small enough to move through the tightest of brambles using the same runs as the rabbits use with relative eas

Had a quick scan back through old pie line posts .but there is a lot, maybe someone could save me the bother of sloggin through it all and tell me... I'm just curious to know What pit bull was used in creating the line. And ped if possible. Thanks in advance

I'm gettin some mileage out of these pics. I 've put the same ones up on two other threads, but anyway. 12 months old , happy with his progress so far

Young dog , comin on well

Would I be right in thinking you got this pup from d.deal . If there the same litter I'm thinking of, they were very well made pups. I was almost going for one but went down a diff route. But I'm thinking they were a few months old when you would have got one, hence the little set back in socialization. either way no big deal just take above advice and pup be sorted whithin a week or so I'm sure

Bull Cross Dogs First Cross Or 58S 38S
brenner replied to compostman's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Black bitch . 7 months old 3rd gen 1st cross. -
From what you can see on pic I think shel be a tidy looking bitch with a bit of tlc. Fair play to ye for takin her on. Life has a way of rewarding good turns, with a bit of luck she could be one of the best little dogs youl ever own

What % of bull is in the dog, what height is it ?
-
Ive a six month 3rd gen 1/2 cross bull hound. Shes like a f****n tornado , has none of the laid back social graces you would accosiate with a greyhound. Shes good natured but hard work. Il need to keep manners on this one. She gets out for a good run every day and still when she gets back, if you take a sneaky look out the back window youl see her up on her back legs trying to figure a way to escape the pen for round two

just to clarify. I'm not saying lurchers in general are not actually hunting dogs but I noticed a distinct difference with my collie cross by doing things like mentioned already and creeping low through long grass to pounce on near by daytime rabbits. To be honest he did grow out of some of these behaviours as he realised it didn't work for him a lot of the time.

Just an observation but after owning this particular collie x dog and watching him do things like that and other stuff like creeping around corners like a fox and pouncing at the last minute just to name two ways he had of hunting... I formed the opinion that there is a difference between running dogs that chase and catch and hunting dogs that can run and catch.. if that makes sence. I'm not putting collie x on a pedestal. He was a pleasure to watch hunt when he actually made this style of hunting work for him but since he died I'm just sticking to my whippet and bullx. More action and entert
