What's The Best Sealant For Concrete Dog Run ?
brenner replied to thefensarefarbutistillgo's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I though it could be the limestone powder coming threw affecting the padsthink your on the money there mate, i had simular problem with sores on the back end of my dogs ball bag from sitting looking out the pen gate all day. After alot of time and trying different meds/creams i figured the mix in the concrete wasnt right, too much lime. I used a standard garage floor/ driveway clear sealant , started to improve immediately, and problem gone completely in about a week.. doesnt have to be anything too pricey, once youve put a barrier between lime and dog, jobs oxo , hope that helps you -

Just to add it was someone else referred to him as the almighty in a previous post

Hillbilly im fighting from the same corner as you, i was aiming that post towards people that was trying to knock m instead of just judging the dogs themselves on their own merits. Im in work, havnt the time to rread back over my post but maybe i worded it badly and came off the wrong way

I think to many people project their own mind set and egotistical way of thinking on to a man that has made a huge impact on the whippets seen ( for the better) . They may assume like a previous poster says that he thinks hes the almighty and so its in some peoples nature to try take people down a peg or two. I spoke to him for the first time a few months back about buying a pup and i must say he struck me as a genuine carachter, and as a complete stranger to me he stressed to me in that conversation that he was just lucky to got sooty sam. He seemed quite humble about what he had done with

New a lad that super glued a 5 cent coin to tip of a dogs ear that acted as weight , left it there for a week or so while pup was still developing, actually worked. b.t.w dont shoot the messenger!!! Looks dont bother me, truth be told if they were that important i would have been put down years ago . When he asked me what i thought of his idea i advised him to glue 50 euro to the the dogs ear and sell me the f****r for 30

I second that, i reckon that's a great idea

well f**k me, i often wonder how that little pat is gettin on. i had forgot the user name of lad i gave her to. didnt have a need for a bushing terrier at the time i parted with her, but always say to me mates i would give me right arm for her now that i have the runnin dogs, what a a little cracker for working cover and a real fiery little bitch. Shes the one that got away as far as im concerned. Seems your really lookin after her bud and that really put a smile on me face. A f****n demon in the cover! Wish ye all the best with her -
Wanted Whippet Hound Bitch Wanted To Be Lined With Bedlington

Pernod your pretty much repeating what others have said already but just different wording. Well done for that . ive put my hand up and said already that i realise this was a bad plan. I just recently got let down with a rabbit dog i was hopeful about and i suppose out of pure frustration i wasnt thinking or aproaching the situation with the same school of thought i would normally use. A moment of weakness you could say . not one of my proudest moments i must admit. I see in your post what you said about me knitting mittens and i noticed john and Chris clicked the "i like " button. Does -

Folks i will have to leave you all to it im afraid. I didnt stick an add for a debate and i wouldnt be in the habit of explaining my self to anyone nor have i got enough hours in the day to do it. In fairness i should have expected this response given the chancyness of what i was thinking of doing. it would not be my ussual mind set regarding working dogs. So i bow out of this one. -

F. M girl thats unfortunate that dog gave up on you. Maybe its more common than my experience with bushing dogs has shown me but ive never seen a keen young terrier give up working cover once it has started. honestly i would be very surprised to see that happen but you have seen it. Corky john, yeh its funny you should mention a new hobbie, i was thinking about taking back up knitting lol. might just buy a whippet and knit the dog a nice jacket, save me looking for a good beddy x. folks if anyone can show me a beddyx whippet hound pup for sale thats bred from a tried and proven game li -

I dont know his name. Honestly when he told me on the phone that pups were from working dogs i thougjt to myself " yeh right pal " but i wasnt that pushed at the time as all i was after was a terrier dog with a good coat, enough prey drive to work cover , good nose for marking and not really inclined to drop to ground when not expected . But when i met up with him he brought the parents to show me. And they both showed signs of grafting especially the father, he was butchered. He told me dam was a bayer and father was hard and used more for end of digs than actual digging. rillington l -

Il have a look rory. But i have to say im not confident about finding one bred from actual true and tested terriers. I read 150 pages on this site that was aimed at anyone that had a bedlington terrier that was actually doing regular earth work. There might have been 1 or 2 i cant remember but i do know it didnt inspire me with confidence in finding a beddy whippet hound bred from a real working beddy. Im not saying there is no such thing but i have to wonder, out of ten litters of beddyxwhippetxhounds advertised , how many are from truly tested terriers . The closest thing ive ever s -

Both fair points lads. As said above i fully understand the negative replies to this add and maybe i am over reaching in my thinking on this breeding but i have never seen a proper working bedlington until i seen the parents of this dog. Unfortunately i have no contact for the guy i got him off to try work something out. if the right beddyxwhippet/hound pup comes ( not bred from show stock) along ide jump on it. A.t.b -

brenner replied to brenner's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
Truth be told chris, my first reaction would be the same as yours if i read an add like this but i suppose im confident that this dog of mine has something to offer as a cross for a rabbiting dog simply because he does his job i got him for very well even for his age. His job is rabbits, do you see the connection yet? As for being mute, its not a very clever thing to single out one attribute out of a list so you can take a cheap shot. Im sure you will reply with something else that you think sounds a little bit clever but im gonn a do my best not to take the bait as im a busy man and it -

Chris. Were all great lads for passin judgement over others from behind are keyboards and spouting out the usuall stuff. This is not my first working dog and i am well aware of the importance of good breeding and testing of dogs. Having said that, im after a little rabbit dog not a dog for taking fox. truth of it is chris that even at his age i can see what he has to offer a rabbit dog. Ie. Coat, feet, nose, fanominal prey drive, mute when chasing rabbits, determination stamina, brains and as far as working little bunnies is concerned.. Good allround attitude. I can only imagine -

A fair question bud. If sire is afraid of teeth it wouldnt cast any doubt on the pups abilities to catch bunnies but if sire proves that hes gamey then he might serve as a cross for a fox dog later on if ever needed. Either way i got this dog just for putting out game for the runners and he does this well so hes a keeper whatever happens. I do want to make it clear to anyone that might be interested that its good little rabbit dogs im after. I reckon hes the right dog to bring coat , feet, nose, intelligence, and good general attitude to a rabbiting dog. -

Forgot to add. obviously the bitch must be a good bitch. Good feet is a must and preferably on the taller end of the scale but its not that important if she is made of the right stuff
