So anyway, sleep, wassat then? I had big plans for last night/this morning, and I'm SURE they involved "going to bed" at some point. Somehow I managed to miss that minor detail out, oh well! YouTube is a wicked, evil, dangerous thing! Just got back from a refreshing trot around my permission here. Didn't shoot anything, mainly because I missed a couple, and decided that the rifle's obviously off zero, so I'd better not try and shoot anything as I'd hate to wound an animal! Strange, as it's the same rifle/scope I made the 40 plus yarder with earlier on. Oh well, guess I'll wait til

Great shooting fella, that's supper sorted! That place looks familiar. It's not a national trust house is it, that's rented out as a house? Possibly a big one near to Lambourne? Course the formal gardens of country houses tend to look similar, but just feels like I know the place.

So when are weall getting together for y'alls barn raising? Didn't realise mormons were allowed to use rifles, thought they were banned from using "modern conveniences" like that?

There's as many methods as there are bunny hunters! Your best bet is to try and find someone near you who does a bit, and go out with them a few times to learn the ropes. An air rifle is a popular tool, in that it doesn't require the hassel of getting a firearms certificate or shotgun certificate. If you get one, make sure you know how to handle it, practice at all sorts of ranges out to a reasonable max, about 30 yards for a new shot, you can probably increase that as you get more confident, but it's a good place to start.

That bunny is an interesting colour, I'd keep that skin and tan it! Is the pigeon on the left a collared dove? Looks a lot smaller than the rest! Lots of tasty meat for you there, get to skinning and gutting!

Yup. Loads of people seem to have been struggling with it, but it works perfectly for me. Not tried it over the mobile network yet, was over wifi so will take it out later and try and get it going. Not sure if I can get far enough away to lose my wireless on this permission though, that's how close to home it is!

Sorry Shay, none of those. Seeing as no-one else is playing, I'll put you out of your misery. It's a Theoben Scirocco, one of the first ones off the production line. The gas ram is why it still shoots beautifully, several thousand shots down the line! Got an old Axsor Gemini (there was a pic of one on here recently!) as well, which I have taken off line at the mo for some maintenance as she doesn't seem to be shooting too well!

Haha I wish! It's more the method of producing the blast of air to propel the pellet, rather than the make, that means it's suffered minimal power drop over the past 15 or so years. Any more clues and I might as well just tell you! haha

Yes Dan. Those are specifically for law enforcement and military use, on moderated weapons in urban combat situations. For hunting they're marginal at best. A heavy bullet going slowly to keep the ME up, but the bullet drop would be horrible!

Cheers fellas. Sorry about the essay, never use one word where seventeen will do! And nope, no SP Shay. As far as I know it's the original stock, and she's got a few years under her belt, but never had any parts replaced and still produces full power. (That should give you a clue! )

Was it just me read the title as "a rat and a crap" ??? Haha anyway, now I've given you a glimpse into my mind... Good shooting. Old scaly tail is my one "shoot on sight, every time" quarry. Mr bunny gets lead painkillers most times, but there are times when I will leave him, but ole ratty gets the .22 present whenever I see him! Dunno about rat bait. Ok, this is my first "report" though there's not actually much to report. More of a test of Photobucket and it's iPhone app. So anyway, I have a permission which is literally the other side of the road from home, so I decided to kill an hour or so having a wander around, see what presented itself. Wandered over the road with the rifle in her slip. Behind a hedge on the permission that provides a little cover from Joe Public and his prying/police calling eye. That's some amazing farmer you have there. He catches someone on his land, with a gun, and without permission, and he invites them back? Either they have the ultimate in silver tongues, or he's desperate. I would gently explain that their actions are more than a little lacking in the moral and legal departments. That in shooting at a fox with an airgun they are breaking a whole raft of laws, both firearm and wildlife (and as stated the farmer shares liability to prosecution as he has given permission). My problem is which one to buy first. I've put in for a .243 and a .22, as well as an sgc. My main permission is the farm I work on, and she wants deer dealt with, so should really get the .243 first, but need a good chunk of money to get that. I have a couple of air rifles I could sell, but I'd rather not as they're old friends, and won't make as much as they're worth to me as a second option for close up bunny work. Filled my freezer with good meat many times over. Not being soppy about them, but there are places where a .22 is too much gun, and the air rifles do the job perfectly. I've

The brand I have are Bresser. They have their own proprietary coating called BaK-4 (Barium Potassium coating maybe? Not sure!) Mine are 10x50 with the long eye relief. The eye piece lenses are nice and wide, and the image is superb! I've just searched them, and these guys have them at an amazing price. (I'm nothing to do with the site, just googled and they seem like an amazing bargain, having had the chance to compare them to Swarovski's and found them to compare favourably!) Bresses 10x50 for silly price!

How? You need a certain amount of powder to seal the case properly against the chamber on firing. I would imagine that any load big enough to propel a round at appreciable velocity would do so, but there's always a risk that it might not. Failure to seal the case properly can cause all sorts of problems, from fowling of the bolt and eventual bolt failure, through to burning of the chamber and, if it goes on long enough, chamber failure. Also the rifling twist rate would not be particularly conducive to accuracy. A fast round uses a faster twist rate than a lower velocity round.
