  1. Sorry for the delay in posting a reply on here but scope arrived safe and sound on Tuesday. Thanks mate.
  2. Handy little guide for your fridge (or gun cabinet) that shows the Open Seasons for UK Deer. I have 30 of these for sale, they measure 100mm by 72mm, just £3.00 for one posted to your door - Payment by Bank Transfer, PayPal, Cheque or PO.
  3. Now the winter evenings are drawing in (hooray, time to go lamping!), here's a hearty rabbit receipe. Ingredients: Cubed Back Leg and Saddle meat from 2 Adult Rabbits (I take the sinew off mine but it's not essential for this receipe). 1 Can Dry Cider. 1/2 Pint Stock (preferably Rabbit but you can use chicken, water or another can of cider). 2 Medium Onions. 2 Cloves Garlic. 1 Small Red Pepper. 1 Small Red Chilli. 1 Teaspoon English Mustard (or Dijon). 2 Tablespoons Tomato Puree. 1 Tablespoon Paprika. Dollop of Butter. Splash of Double Cream or Creme Fraiche. Heat up a pan with
  4. I looked at a Howa and a Browning A Bolt but went with the A Bolt purely for the loading. Floorplate AND a box mag - best of both worlds. It's topped off with a Schmidt and Bender 6x42 and a Wildcat Pred 8 Mod. I got lucky with the scope and got a great deal on it second hand but I have a Leupold FX-III on my LR and wouldn't hesitate to put that on the .243. As said above the Meopta's are cracking scopes too, there's one on the BBS at the mo for £200
  5. A while back I took a lad out with me to lay up after some rabbits and I'd given him various bits of instruction/tips and only later realised I'd forgot to tell him to rest his neck. Poor chap sat there all night eye glued to the scope and could barely move the next day. I will rest my neck for periods when laying up by either laying on my side or back or just by working the neck regularly by facing the ground briefly, only need to do it for a few seconds if you do it regularly.
  6. I think it has to help the farmer take you seriously if you can offer to use the best method because you have access to lots of them. I've ferreted land where we just used purse and long net, nets and dogs, nets and guns and (although he's sold it now), nets and Harris Hawk. It does show you're serious about it if you can show you're using the right tools for the job.
  7. I have for sale my Lizzie, she's a fantastic bit of glass, although the scope tube shows signs of age, it's all superficial and there's no crimping or dents. The glass is as you'd expect superb and it has a 4a reticle which unfortunately I'm finding a little thick for bunnies and this scope really deserves to be sitting on a foxing/stalking rig. I'd consider a swap if someone has a nice Bushy Legend tucked away or similar and I'll include either dovetail or Warne mounts with the scope (as it's a 26mm tube) or it's yours for £95 posted. Payment via PayPal, Bank Transfer, Cheque etc
  8. .22LR 60-80yards .17HMR: 120-140yards Yes, both will go further (my furthest is 124 with the .22 and 175 with the HMR) but as an "aim at it", confident shot they're the ranges I work to. I love them both but if I could only have one, it would be LR. Cheaper to feed, quieter and will do everything the HMR will do except the >100yard stuff but I don't find that an issue with bunny, getting under 40yards to a bunny can be tricky but 60-80yards shouldn't be.
  9. Here's the form I use, your local FLO may have a similar thing available on their website to download NOTIFICATION of TRANSFER or DISPOSAL of a FIREARM or SHOT GUN.doc
  10. For an LR you can't ignore the CZ452, pretty much bombproof and low maintenance. I do like the look of the t-bolt but bear in mind it has weaver rails for the scope not dovetails so the mounts will cost a little more. Moderator wise - SAK end of, yes there are other mods about that claim to be quieter but for the extra cost it's not worth it imo. My SAK moderated LR is quieter than my air-rifle and like Matt said, bullet on bunny is louder. Scope wise you don't need anything uber. I've had various on mine but now have a fixed mag (6x) Lisenfeld and it will happily drop rabbits out past
  11. Well said... only problem is you sold it too well, I don't want to be at work now!
  12. Yes sorry I meant cheaper as opposed to 20 bore
