  1. My thoughts exactly. i,v said this on here before, i,d like this cross before iam too old. Yeah same here
  2. I was typing as you posted bunnys lol, yeah I think you would get some useful pups with good coats etc
  3. Yeah roy, 1st x is what I mean, not whippet on both sides or whatever, and also what you say about wastage, I think we're on the same wavelength. If someone had a litter by say a 22" whippet dog out of say a 28" deerhound bitch, and both were sound useful workers, I'd be on my travels to look at the pups
  4. Simple really gaz, I like whippets and I like deerhounds, and I think a pup bred from the right parents, sizewise, would prove very useful. After all whip/greys have been around for years, and I think whip/deer would give the pups a better coat, and also good feet, plus both breeds have sound temperaments. And with only two breeds in the mix, I would've thought size would be a bit easier to predict, or rather, give you more even sized pups
  5. Just read it again lol, I get you now, 21 weeks 21"
  6. As others have said, I've been popping into this section off and on for a while now, but as of yet I've got nothing worthwhile to post, hopefully that'll be changing after tuesday. Just got to say this section is far more helpful to newcomers and those with not much experience, with members giving advice, tips etc on all aspects of air rifling, from technical advice right through to hunting, well impressed, top bunch of guys, and girls, from members to those that run this section, oh yeah, well done to the youngun! lol. bet he was chuffed to bits
  7. Looks good that mate, I'm about to pick up a new gun with a walnut stock this tuesday, and that looks to have a good finish and colour to it
  8. Anyone know of someone that works or owns this type? I would think a big whippet dog put to a fairly smallish deerhound bitch should throw some good pups. Just whippet and deerhound, no greyhound
  9. Thanks drifter they very alike alright younger lad bit more saluki looking Both nice dogs, how much saluki in them?
  10. From those pics gaf, you can tell that they're going to be too tall and their feet will be too big! lol, they all look fecking sound to me
  11. As long as a bull/grey x saluki/grey is tall! lol
  12. Bazil, did you not mean an inch a month? And teddog, my earlier comment was tongue in cheek, as someone else pointed out, without knowing the height of both parents it's pretty hard to estimate what height any lurcher pup 'might' make
  13. sheep shagging comedein. Could be worse, I could be a sheep shagging homo , no offence meant, just been one of those days, 25"ish sounds about right
  14. Haven't got the foggiest , 33" tts at a guess?
  15. Looks a strong dog trig, is he 3/4 grey, and how tall?
  16. Ours is collie/grey x deer/grey, and just checked my diaries, 5 months 25", 8 months 26 1/2, 10 months 27 1/2 and 13 months when she finished growing in height, a shade under 29". Again, as has probably been said, all pups grow at different rates and some, even from same litter, keep growing for a little while longer than some of their siblings, so yours could possibly grow on til 12-13 months
  17. Older bitch we have was bang on 25" tts at 6 months and ended up just under 29" tts, but as has been said, depends what's in it's breeding, but I would've thought about 22"ish for your pup
  18. Too young, too wet, too light. Lol. Get and catch some bunnys It's funny as fook this place Gaz but you gotta love the member's .. .. no like's by the way so here you go .. Too young, too wet. too warm and faaar too light to be lamping in the daytime! , or perfectly ok if you were doing what you stated in your original post lol
  19. Haven't seen those videos, but agree with you completely as to their allround ability, especially as lamp dogs, taking all quarry.
  20. Not my type of dog, we all like different things in a dog, but I do like nice athletic staffs
  21. the too tall business is a myth old wives tale's mainly said by people who have not witnessed a large lurcher at work there are 33" dogs what do well on rabbit i had a 29"tts that was dam good on them and have a 28" dhxgh what catches them so its a load of bollox if the dog can get down and feed and pick scraps off the floor i am dam sure it can pick a rabbit up Lol
  22. Some nice dogs there lads. Bitch we've got here now is 1st x collie/grey x 1st x deer/grey. Not meaning to be contentious, but I just don't get why some people come out with this 'too tall' nonsense, she's nearly 29" tts and catches rabbits with no bother, and I've seen and owned other dogs similarly bred, and taller, do the same. As long as they don't turn out too heavy and they maintain good balance, I don't see a problem with their height
