    I love whippets too, as I'm sure many on here do. And I know they can do most of the work that people want a running dog for. Though I will say that I do think that on certain ground, a taller dog than most whippets is of more use. I personally think the main reason that many don't rate them, especially these last 20ish or so years, is due to the increase in bull x's, and the majority of people that own them. I mean, it's quite difficult to look hard and macho with a 25-30lb whippet on the lead, as opposed to some of these super, smash anything, 'look at the size of his head' -90lb bull x's!

    Agree with what you say here db, but all that's been pretty quickly eroded now. Respect for almost anything has been replaced with ego, disrespect, aggression, rudeness and downright beligerence in general. People getting into hunting in the last 10 years especially, will have no such respect, knowledge etc, and like you say, care only about numbers, results etc. The hunting world is definitely a far far sadder place than it was a generation ago

    Summer coursers, driving land and the internet are main reason games as f****d as it iswho wants to go during the winter when its wet and cold? If you cant course in your vest whats the point in going lol. Hare coursing is banned ,why should coursers regulate themselves to winter running only,...............do bank robbers only go robbing in the winter,? I know hares bellied up and unsporting and winter hares are the best,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but illegal in winter is illegal in summer. On saying that its October to Febuary for me if i went for a run.     Ive put 1 Bedlington dog in a pet home because in 2 years i could not control its hunting behaviour,if it scented quarry that did not range far,rodents,it was never a problem,the scent of bambi or fox and the mutt was often lost,2 days once.Ive never had the problem with many,many others.A busher needs far more education and training than any terrier worked solely from a leash,the main reason for a deaf terrier is a lack of stewardship and early education.Bedlingtons are far less prone to ignore command than say a Lakey,ive often had a far harder time attempting to educate a Lakey,Bedlingtons

But there are people on here that wouldn't have one negative reaction for certain actions, yet if someone new to the site did a similar thing there'd be holy f**k about it.     I think the site's been the same for a few years now. If one of 'the main men' on here even scratches their arse, they get praised to the heavens, and do it better than everyfucker else. And there are plenty on here that would rip into most members if they'd used a dog at stud that aint had at least four years 'graft' behind it.     Been thinking about taking on a bedlington for a while now. But one of the things that keeps cropping up is that people saying about them throwing 'a deaf ear' when on a hot scent/line. Is that down to 'maybe' the hound ancestry from years back, which I've read a few times, or just a typical terrier trait? Not had much to do with terriers, and only owned one, a russell bitch, in my life, about 40 years ago lol

    I am feeding mostly muskrat, with an occasional meal of beef, and a few junks of chicken fat or skin added every now and then. I feed the whole muskrat, meat, bone, liver, kidneys, etc. minus the pelt, stomach, and intestines. Muskrat meat is a rich red meat that has a good amount of fat, and lots of protein. Muskrats are a clean and mostly vegetarian, much more like a rabbit than an actual rat. I freeze it for over a month to kill of any potential parasites, just to be safe.     And I know lure coursing and racing aren't really great substitutes for the real thing, but at least it's a step in the right direction to stopping some sighthound breeds from becoming as useless as many of the terrier breeds etc
