  1. Good lad for getting out Mole. I was out for a rake earlier and will do a writeup tommorow as I went back out with the lurchers tonight as well. Sometimes just sitting in the hide is enough eh? beats shit TV hands down
  2. im comming up your way in oct you can see for your self iv got a hob smaller then any gill you can find to put it up against Never ratted with ferrets for years bud,, not my thing anymore. But I did prefer a bigger ferret for the rats. Where you off to in Oct ? Unless you mean, get the ferrets to fight ha ha ha My point was that greyhound ferrets, to me, don`t exist, it`s just a localised name for a thin type,
  3. Get on the longnet section on here bud Best place to ask
  4. Drum is just on the other side of Sherrifhall roondaboot On the road down to little france/infirmary Loadsa wee sheds sitting out at the roadside.
  5. Every one counts bud! Nice looking wee dug. ATB
  6. Well ,,Im up in Scotland mate,, so my ferrets think it`s December still !! brrrrrrr!
  7. Good lad, just keep trying Remember though !!!! it is coming to the end of the season, There might be young in the burrow, and that comes with its own problems.. Good luck ATB
  8. I use wood shavings mate Buy them in bales from the Drum estate shop, along the road from you They do food as well. Think it might be chudleys though If you like I`ll check the shop in Tranent and see if they have any Alpha left Your local pet shop can get you what you want though (Alpa or James Wellbeloved)
  9. Daysate Air Ranger !!! lol Nah ,I think the rapid is a great gun,, but I could not live with that stock,, easily one of the ugliest guns I`ve seen, R-10 lovely and a great performer. Would be tempted by an Air Arms though. S510 floats my boat more than the rapid. Yes I know!! rapids great , gods own gun etc!! but hey! thats just me
  10. Yup Most ferrets will work to some degree, Let them get in about it and eventually they will bolt a rabbit and suss that thats what its all about.. Patience dear boy! Patience.
  11. I saw the synthetic version this week and really liked it The stainless looked braw as well,,, save ,scrimp etc etc Have you got the scope yet bud.?? I`ve just fitted the SR6 version to my Rimmy.
  12. I have to admit I don't know the answer to that one Buster. You'll have to tell us. If it was aimed at me I have to wonder if you read the original problem at all. I certainly don't want to ruin my rifle. I've only just bought the thing and if it was putting out 11.5ftlb's instead of 9.4ftlb's I wouldn't have touched it. And where did Heath Robinson come from? We're talking about a spring that slightly stronger than the original for God's sake. And this from a man who earns a living selling AA spares because the originals are so good. Could you be slightly more constructive please Bus
  13. Corvids are a pest on much more than arable land Contamination of livestock feed and enclosures Protection of lambing sheep etc etc They can also be controlled for the protection of gamebirds,,,your land doesnt have to be a shoot,, you can be protecting partridge for example. You can almost always find a reason to control pest species, your permission owner wouldn`t ask you to shoot them otherwise. Getting caught shooting pests in your own small garden could be an issue,, but again,, public health issues should cover you,,,,,,they are shitting in my ferrets water for example! A
  14. Aye ,, do the saluki x stinkys retrieve tae hand big man !!
  15. Interesting to see that ferrets seem to come on season slightly later up here, cause it`s fekin freezin still where we are !!!
  16. Sounds like the young lads a clown and needs his ferrets taken from him to be rehomed.. Is he the type that starves a Staffy to make it "evil man".
  17. Yeh ,I`m the same here. Will be out one more time this week then thats it for the ferrets. All my places want them done all year so I`ve got plenty summer afternoon shooting days ahead.. ATB
  18. Awrite Joe I use water bottles , allways have, I also bring them in the house where they tend to jump in the dogs water bowl lol. Good to see you`re getting stuff together for the wee stinkys ! ATB
  19. Superb It`s great fun getting the wee ones oot! watchin them trying to handle ferrets is hilarious Looks like a good day. ATB
  20. Mark Drop me a PM Tried to call but no answer, I`d be up for a day mate, whenever suits. Should be able to sort out a return day at something
  21. Not really All my ferrets get rabbits and dry food plus whatever else I get for them ,squirrel ,pidgeon etc. And I have had a couple that just ate the dry food, wouldn`t touch a rabbit when it was put in front of them. Simple fact,, had ferrets for 23 years and only a couple (2) have done this , but there you go. And as for why would you want to ! does averybody with a lurcher feed meat to the dog ? no I don`t think so. 90% will be on complete meal,,exactly like giving complete meal to a ferret
  22. Really ? What makes them harder.? Do you have any pics or know any breeders.? Find it strange that a ferret bred to be skinny and small would be harder on rats. Have you ever ferreted rats,, The bigger the ferret the better in my view, cause they need to be hard as nails to go up against a big doe !! Like I said, I don`t believe that "greyhound ferrets"are any different,,,they are just wee ferrets that have picked up a local name for a small type. Same as all the daft names for colours! ATB
  23. Not so my friend!! They can and will live perfectly happy on ferret food. I have had ferrets who turned thier noses up at meat and wanted only dry food, It has all that they need in it so it can be fed on its own. ATB
