  1. its my 1st of this type I know if you get a good one they can knock some gear over she's showed promise see how she's plays outive only ever seen one that was years ago this cross as always interested me the one I see was meant to be a very handy bitch on the roe
  2. if I could give a well bred sal x bull greyhound the amount of game they need to be classed as a good dog I'd have one in a shot but sadly this cross would be waisted on me
  3. but what worker to worker that's the question what cross
  4. Penda I like the sound of that a bit of Alsatian in the mix
  5. Alright lads/lasses what's your favourite x or crosses you use for the work you do An the land you run your dogs on ? Mines collie x and bedlington xs but for me I like the racey bred animals
  6. To be honest if it's a racey pup your wanting put a straight greyhound over it or if your worried about the greyhound not being a working dog get a good long dog that's doing the biz
  7. Sounds bad mate I feel for you I really do least there still alive my season is well an truly over My up An coming pup was put to sleep on Thursday due to Pickering up a strain of leptospirosis although vaccinated For the common strains
  8. I think its a great idea to be fair one things for sure it will slow dog peddlers up abit as pups have to be chipped to the breeders name before sale then changed over to the new owners name after sale this could help with the amount of shit being bred for money take the profit away from the peddlers
  9. Wheatgerm oil in the soft food speeds them up coming in to condition plus extra day light hours
  10. No no wasn't trying to say your a beginner or any thing like that but was just saying because I wouldn't want any one getting shafted by some of these dodgy gits that think they can shaft people that get up there selling dodgy gear
  11. Only problem with the Siberian goldfinches at Stafford show is most the sellers are dealers there birds are fresh bought in for the sale an there drug addict birds a week or so down the line there dead a fella I knows got in to mutation Goldie's an bullies he spent a fortune buying Bird's in most of these were from places like Stafford an Newark in the end he jacked in an went back in to keeping British bullies an Goldie's if you can I'd try an find some British bred Siberian goldfinches
  12. My favorite xs are the traditional suff collie xs an beddlington xs or a mix of both I prefer these to greyhounds than whippets I personly think your less restricted on usage to a greyhound OK a little bit of whippet in the mix is a good thing but to much spoils the broth for me
  13. Not many people actually keep a true line of lurcher.more just unrelated lurcher to lurcher bred dogs not really line breeding not many lurcher men/women have the space or time/work to put in to all the dogs required to breed a lurcher line
  14. My definition of a lurcher is a purpose bred mongrel sight hound that has trainability an is able to provide meat for the table
  15. I use virkon s in my bird room I've used it for about 5yrs its very good stuff I use it for cleaning all perchers drinkers feeders egg food draws nest pans I just soak every thing in a big bin I also use it to clean the cages floors an walls I also use a small pinch in to a spray bottle an mist spray the birds an add a pinch to 2l or bathing water for the birds works for me
  16. I'm not a bull x fan but bottom line is a drop of bull blood in any lurcher mix adds good things I'm more a traditional type of lurcher owner I like collie xs beddlinton xs an deerhouns xs but if I was ever buying a pup in an it had a drop of bull blood in there it wouldn't put me off if the parents doing the biz
  17. Interesting replays I take it there is still some decent old lines still going then buy some of the comments
  18. The lurchers of yesteryear were they as good as some people make out? My thoughts are if they were as good as made out were are they today why did the people who ran them not breed on an keep sound stock for them selfs an keep lines going to this day instead of buying a new dog in of unknown quality when a new runner is needed or was it a case of there was less people out hunting with dogs at that time less housing so more land also the old chaps moaning were a lot younger without family commitments an could get out more to do abit a lot more often ??
