  1. You've just got me thinking scafflad How many gun dog people who want a gun dog buy a pet dog to work the along side the gun How many sheep farmers buy a kc pet collie to work How many digging lads buy a pet bred terrier for work How many military people buy in out of pet stock How many people who want to race a greyhound would buy a kc greyhound to race
  2. Scafflad I sort of agree with what your saying to a degree but for me it'd have to be lurcher to lurcher or long dog to long dog best to best to even the odds as there's no point in gambling the odds and setting your self up for disappointment with pet dogs if there's dogs bred out the right gear already doing the job in hand that your wanting to do all you have to do is look at some of the line bred match dogs that are bred or the line bred bull xs for there jobs if the dogs dirt or a jacker it's not put in the gene pool...I'm not saying a serviceable running dog can't be bred out of pet dogs
  3. that's just it mate you've got to be so careful these days lads buy in dogs but don't know the cross or are told there one cross then breed out of them selling them as one cross but when they start maturing they look completely different to what they are meant to be cross wise. I'm not a bull x man but I've always said a very small amount of bull blood in any lurcher adds good things to the all round hunting dog
  4. It's not the traveling that's the problem these days when obtaining a decent pup out of good gear it's finding out weather the parents were actually any good at there job or not to begin with and not pounced round a show ring lets be honest who wants a pup bred from second rate gear out of dogs talked up by a band of followers on the internet claiming of being decent dogs at there job I've always found most adds for pups that don't state age of sire An dam on the add tend to be hiding something straight away (not always the case)9 times out of ten they don't get out much as claimed an the pare
  5. Buy buy out An out rabbit dogs make way for foxing An deer dogs ffs
  6. Good few about beginning of last season but by half way through the season it was like Barron land on the lamp on my stomping ground.a good few hours on the lamp An a good few miles I could count the runs on my hands that the bitch had it was hard going to get the bitch runs in ended up hitting unsafe territory just to get the runs in ferreting was poor to it was a slow tick over but better than nowt. I've not been out yet on the stubble as the bitch as recently been key hole spade An also in the sick bay already after being attacked by 4 not under control bedlington x dogs while I was lead w
  7. Looks well mate I've still got a week before mine can go out I really can't wait to get her out An about

  9. Interesting cross bred that way round
  10. Exactly what you've done mate then I'd invest in a vetanary staple gun for future insidences that may happen
  11. Bedlington x greyhound or a collie x greyhound or a straight whippet
  12. Best way mate.wish my dad was in to the hunting game when I was a lad it would of saved him having to come An collect me from the old bill station on many occasions and kept/steered me out of trouble the minute I got in to the dogs via my cousin with his foxing bedlington xs I was a changed man I had focus and sorted my self out dropped the dick heads who I used to hang around with as they were a big part of my problem my thoughts were if I was pissed up or banged up for the night I wouldn't get to see the dogs work the beam so it was best behaviour from me

  17. Mine get veg but not in no large amounts they also get table scraps I don't feed veg or scraps in large amounts just as An when
  18. tbh if I was breeding from this cross you'd mentioned it'd have to go to a good fast saluki/greyhound or deerhound/greyhound it's going to be a heavy slow cross once you do the first cross anyway there's no point in adding more base blood to the mixture an slowing them down you need to give them speed to come in to contact what your aiming to use them on and be prepared to put most of the litter to sleep as I couldn't imagine not many people would want to take a punt on the first generation
  19. i know my own dogs very well mate if I even had the slightest thought I'd have problems I wouldn't do it I've kennelled this bitch with the previous pup I lost there was no problems
  20. Mines a part time cleaner She Hoovers any crumbs up that the kids drop she does a fantastic job at it or if they leave any food about she has that as well she saves me a fortune on electricity lol
  21. cheers mate she should be alright...she'll have to be if not she'll be told they get on really well the pups like her shadow.I've found in the past it's a good way of imprinting good kennel manners but I'm not suggesting kenneling 2 terrier xs as we know how that would end
  22. looks nice pup , how it bred , hard to tell from pics lol is there collie in it .?cheers mate yes mate just a drop the dams a 5 generation 26tts collie/greyhound x whippet greyhound with a small drop of deerhound in there way back in her breeding I've worked out her breeding with the person that bred her from there records to be 18.75% collie the rest running dog i done a repeat mating as I lost the original pup I bred out of her. I bred the bitch to a real good experienced 22tts half x bedlington x greyhound the pups percentages are 1/2 greyhound 1/4 bedlington 1/8 whippet 3/32 coll
  23. plenty of decent gsd blood round of you know where to look my shepherd bitch comes from good stock her father is one of the most athletic looking shepherds I've ever saw I'm running on a granddaughter to him and I will say she's a fast bitch with bags of stamina I'm upping the anti this season see what happens thats just it though I wouldn't know we're to look all I see is kc cripples i couldn't see the army or police force offering to stud a proper working gsd to a greyhound to someone who is potentially going to be breaking the law with it's uses I also couldn't imagine that the common man
