Mate bull is not my flavour but it makes sense in this cross why as there’s far more bull xs out there doing the job so makes perfect sense to me ??
-
I’d think they would be a handy cross if the ingredients in the melting pot was right but I think finding a decent deerhound x greyhound that was actually any good an worth breeding out of same goes for bedlington x greyhounds would be a achievement in its own right but every time I see this sort of x advertised it’s always from peddlers or bred from show dogs that have done feck all because they have to many dogs on the go but will try there luck to blag that there decent work dogs just to make sales out of pups I’ve not seen this x advertised for a while now thankfully but couldn’t say I’d
-
Not my cuppa T think they would be to slow for my ends as second chances are not given or offered but I think they would make handy dogs for any one wanting to start a line of collie greyhounds far better to use one of these as a stud if there working than half the so called working collies out there that only work a couple of pet sheep for trials I personally think this litter would make good breeding stock dogs tbh for anyone wanting to get a decent line of the ground for there needs

That’s the base I done for my kennels mate it’s nothing special but works well enough I used reclaimed slabs that the edges of the slabs taper so I could point them up there layed on a heavy mixed screed with a good base of compacted hardcore underneath. my drainage is a soak away because my foul drainage is right down the garden my back garden as no access for machinery An would be to big a job to tap in an dig out a waist to run down there I’d have to go through the paths An the patios just to get down there before tapping in so settled for a soakaway I had to dig a trench about 20ft or so o
-
Just have a aco drain (cheap as chips on eBay shop) at your lowest point that your base of your kennels runs to or is flowing to like the stuff they have on drive ways with the metal grids on top then run it to a soak away I think I remember you saying your kennels were 10x6 so your soak away you’re get away with 1m square by a meter or so deep as that area is never gonna produce enough water to to fill an flood it

More than enough collie blood I recon for us simpletons An still shows it’s presents in the hybrid

Only as young as the woman ya feel fella ??Never to old it’s having active dogs that require a good time out on the land that keeps us active fit An keen an young it’s when we admit we’re getting long in the tooth that we physically An mentally want to slow up and admit it’s time for slower dogs
-
Stupid question mooch Why reverse bred if the dog you have now will do the job you want as that’s why you went for that cross in the first place it’s almost like saying it’s incapable of doing what I originally got the dog for so I’ll backwards step it to try to correct/fix the error I made to make it right. This is not me trying to crank you or trying to be a clown ?or out but the dog you have there fits the bill for what you say you need for what you’ve described that’s what it’s bred for being a f1 master of none type with more opportunities/experience in the job you require your dog will

theres been big cat sighting near me over the years 2009 was the first on a local golf course one morning there’s also been sightings round all the local villages to me in that area as it’s all wood land and open land that joins from village to village even my own village as had a few people saying they’ve seen big cats but I’ve seen feck all over the years not even in my new village I’m in now but you would of thought that a lamper is more likely to bump in to stuff scouring larger land an wood lines at night with a beam of light the only sighting I’ve seen when entering some land one night/

I personally recon it’s more down to ease of just lining a whippet more than any thing Troyboy most these people that have whippets have a bedlington kicking about I mean they don’t take up much room doing litters of bedlington x whippets being a small x far less room than having cast greyhounds kicking about that only come in season every year we’re as whippets are some times twice a year more bang for the buck
-
No you just didn’t Raz clot!
-
What I was trying to get at as a point about bedlington types is this most people that out cross is because something is lacking ie saying they want a dog for ground work as a instance so they out cross an it produces a dog that does the job in hand yet a kc is so hit an miss here is a question for you Dan boi I know your answer honest from a work man point of view If you had to take a bedlington x on as a working dog let’s say f1 bedlington x greyhound As a mix bag dog A) kc bedlington that the owner walks around with An does a bit of bushing or possibly ferreting with x ex track
-
The bedlington started as a cross any way before it become standardised as a breed rather than a type so what difference does it make kind of ironic that people with bedlingtons are trying An failing to breed back to dogs of old An how they were back in the day that were half decent but you can get a modern cross bred bedlington that will do the job that the bedlington can’t ? your point was originally about size give over fella even with kc bedlingtons they can’t control size up to 19tts ?if it looks like a bedlington An does what a bedlington is claimed to be it’s a bedlington a true type on

I’d take a f1 bedlington greyhound over any bedlington whippet any day of the week even if it was off a breeder ?id pay my money take my chances
-
A decent person would just give you one for free fella if it’s for work and if your a sound lad who can be vouched for or at least a very minimal charge just to cover costs

Same here pal seasoned worker to worker.I’ve no problem breeding for my self gifting a couple out to friends to work an putting the rest to sleep via a vet saves people having pups from me An doing wrong by them or them ending up on the merry go round f**k breeding for money I’m not in to dogs for financial gain my last litter I bred was a eye opener to the amount of bull shitting working an none working dog people out there people say why bother breeding...simple answer is for keeping honest bred dogs were I know the breeding is correct for my needs alone am wanting my own breeding -
It’s the way forward Troyboy ??Gives just that little more height an gears to play with if I was to have another that’s probably the round I’d go down for them rabbits

?no difference what so ever mate ??definitely Lurcher to Lurcher worker to work is the way forward that’s it mate best option to keep your own gear for your needs I’ve started doing the same It’s the way forward -
Loads of bedlington whippet litters advertised all the time be prepared to be told bull shit An have your pants pulled down on price bedlington whippets have become the peddling c**ts favourite cross to peddle lately take your pick wisely! Can’t say I’d want to go down the bedlington whippet road again unless it was a decent f1 going back to a greyhound or a grew. Good luck in your search fella all the best in finding what your after ??

My 2 pence worth is there just Lurchers An there do the same as any other lurcher will do but the title Norfolk Lurcher means an stands for nothing in this day an age there same as any other bitza Lurcher to Lurcher bred dog in my eyes of dubious breeding my opinion An that’s all it is is the title Norfolk Lurcher was a sales pitch but long as you can get it doing a bit An your happy with him/her who cares (Lurcher to lurcher breeding is the way forward pal) -
The rise in popularity of bedlington/greyhound x collie/greyhound
poxon replied to poxon's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Mate I’m not trying to call ya dog or out it’s your dog your feeding it long as your happy with it That’s all that matters I was just pointing out that’s the cross they breed to sell so there going to say nothing else is needed in the mix or it’ll damage future sales if they point out that something else is needed I’m not contesting there set up or out like I said there breeders if they weren’t making money they wouldn’t keep needing to put litters on the ground regular if it was a breeding just to get a pup for there selfs I used to see there pups up at 200 an some times 250 so you got a barg -

Nice looking dog fella. I personally don’t think the f1 as it all like people lead people to believe far better 2nd crosses or a line bred bedlington x I think people are romancing still on yeasteryear of legend f1s or talk a good hunting dog of yesteryear. but the fella is going to say that as he puts litters of f1s on the ground regular for people to buy. not in it for money give over pal the blokes put more litters of f1 on the ground than I’ve had hot dinners and he’s not done it at a loss on his pockets that’s a fact unless your the gullible type -
