Didn’t need it at the time but do now we’re I live as it’s all gated an stock everywhere I still visit the old spot through out the season it’s funny lamping on there knowing there’s no stock or gate ways just open gaps from field to field I had a friend come down to stay for a dusk till dawn session the first time they stayed they were shocked I think they thought I was bull shiting about no stock no gates only down side to this is if your a road sider an you know the gap on to the land the opposite side of town you got a good bit of land to cover by vehicle used to be a lot of scousers come

Its not hard at all your right fella there?? but some guys have never needed stock broken dogs so it’s not really a must as such unless your working dogs around stock Then it’s a must obviously But like I said we never needed stock broken dogs we had some good pre ban dogs that were used for a bit of everything but some lads still don’t need stock broken but back then because there is no stock an still isn’t on that land for miles around to worry about an or the dogs to worry lol but like I’ve said I got really lucky with my old collie x she was sound round stock although never being formally

Should! but not everyone has access to live stock it’s a hard thing to accomplish if you don’t keep stock your self no farmer i know is going to let random lurcher lads among there stock unless your in the farmers pocket or he’s in yours .some will never need a dog stock broken to sheep ,cattle etc I went for years without stock breaking my dogs to farm stock as it wasn’t needed I only needed a dog broken to chickens an ferrets that were my own were I used to live every direction you went in was arible land as far as the eye could see it was all permitted an still is you didn’t even need a d

Love season change if your not out enough you miss it I love watching everything come to life birds singing coming in condition flowers/trees sprouting new life days getting longer.....won’t miss how wet it’s been this winter but feeling it’s not over yet I feel there is a cold snap coming

A lot of the run picking in collie xs tends to be the more heavy base blooded dogs when they age...I like collie xs my self as I really like collie temperament but not to much collie just a small drop I know many a bloke who were out an out collie x men but see a pattern emerge with half xs as they age these were all guys that were mowing gear regular with half xs these were experienced dogs that run cunning once age starts to kick in so does the walking slowly down the beam or not running at all with a distant look of I don’t think I’ll catch that it’ll out run me as my speed as diminisheing

My kennel is a small humble set up I didn’t have a lot of disposable cash I bought the galvanise kennel for £150 about 12yrs ago it’s wasn’t all that old I had it off a family member that cut down on dogs. the slabs were 50p and £1 each they were off a fb sale group the shed was cheap can’t remember where that came from but know I didn’t pay a lot for it it was like new It’s kingspanded insulated that was free of a site agent I know that looked after me because I look after him all the drainage an fittings were free of my mate who’s a groundworker who’s also in the dog game that we sort each

I recon lurcher to lurcher types with a drop of bull blood seem a popular choice ray I also recon bedlington whippet types seems the most popular there right up there as a popular small type plus all the horsey type people are getting in to the bedlington whippet types because there easy breeders not to mention the designer type dog people. I’ve limited experience with the cross there the same as any other cross regarding be social as there social animals but most bull crosses if shit gets real an hostility is bought to them they won’t shy away there give there all to try an kill the dog bringing hostility towards them same as any other dog it’s just if a bull x that’s been used for the job regular is far more tapped in an efficient at killing given how strong an powerful most are there make short work of most Lurchers in a kennel fight if it kicks off
