I rather the bigger cousin to this cross at the minute for what I’m in to (bedlington greyhound xs) but can honestly say I’ve said I’d never own another f1 beddy whippet but when I slow down in the lurcher game when my time is done and spent if I can get another bedlington whippet well bred id happily put my feet up with one if it’s just mooching about
-
My old little pot banger fred your right about never a dull walk she used to go from 17tts f1 bedlington x to a 32in deerhound greyhound when out an on with the big dogs funny little thing she was sadly missed rip

Why not? if it’s being crossed with say a whippet or a spaniel or beagle etc surly it’s only terrier to terrier you wouldn’t want digging blood given the small size an being able to drop to ground if you didn’t want that risk surly for the bushing/mooching you’d want fearless blooded dogs that wouldn’t be fannys an beat around the bush if something was in cover that offered some heat you’d want dogs with bottle to get in there and get stuck in an see it head on unless your plan is bolting it for running dogs that would be my opinion any way right or wrong I don’t know

I think maybe a few of us have been left a little confused by the post an what direction its gone with this section being the lurcher an running dog section (yes I know it’s technically a lurcher) most people That have sighthound x terrier want it for being used as a running dog That runs for a living not just bushing/rating dog normally I think maybe this post is in the wrong section it’d probably been better in the bushing dog section it would of been positive as people my self including thought this cross was a poor choice as a conventional worker for the more common roll of what a Lurchers

the lie is that there good When there not there talked up by crazy fools only interested in breeding them to sell an the fact you can’t go wrong with whippet x terrier that’s the lie that many have been fooled by my self including ??
-
Never bred whippets or whippet Lurchers but used to work actively coursing whippet s when it was legal when younger we used to take these dogs ferreting lamping they were bang on the money if it was there they would catch it. I’ve also worked bedlington whippets over the years our last team consisted of 3 bedlington f1 an a straight whippet my last bedlington whippet wasn’t that good tbh crap on the lamp slow as f**k one gear wonders but she tried but a handy ferreting bitch an busher not much use for any thing else I had a 26tts collie x that could do all these little dogs could do an more wi

I was told the same lie years ago you can’t go wrong with a terrier x whippet

That’s not my point I was getting at fella my point is what’s the point in putting pups on the ground out of a bitch that by next year would of only completed one season work ? by one season you can’t honestly know if a dogs really got what it takes to be a useful seasoned worker when it’s still learning it’s trade.shelters are full of dogs were people have sentimental bred dogs it’s a pointless exercise Mate. what will this cross offer that a work bred whippet hasn’t already got in hand ? unless there only being bred for money ?? Your dog up to you what you do with it at the end of the day
-
So she’s 1yr old then ??Tbh what is the point in putting pups on the ground out of a young bitch that will be producing a none conventional cross ??
-
Probably already have the pube platt of peace mate that’s why they not been going at each other they called a trues ??
-
With there tongues ??
-
Hope you asked them both on numeral occasions if they wanted to shake hands mate boys ?

Anybody plan on breeding wheaten greys this new year?
poxon replied to Lenmcharristar's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I recon so mate the game as changed from the more sturdy f1s ferreter types most people could do with a dog with a bit of speed about it that still has traceability 1/4 of base blood is bang on the money in most Lurchers an what people need still very workable...if I was just coming in to the lurcher game an looking for a dog an see a add genuine 1/4 Wheaton greyhounds id be all over them it’d be a simple case of take my money an I’ll take my chances Bet I wouldn’t go far wrong in getting a half decent worker that’d have a crack at most things if the law was different -
Mate I think you’ve about right in what your saying and about it being a bit like a cake
-
funny old things these minshaw bred dogs every man had one they were all world beaters owned by blokes that do a bit that know a thing or two about dogs yet nothing as good is owned by said blokes these days or said blokes that no a thing or two as kept a tight strain yet said blokes moan at the amount of shit being bred out there it’s comedy gold! The way I look at it is the responsibility of keeping good lines going is on the heads of blokes that claim to know a thing or two the question is did they really know a thing or two or was it just down to the fact that running dogs wasn’t a big a t

They not long ago had a add up selling pups same cross same parents now another litter proper little peddling racket at £500 a pop
-
No problem fella If any thing pops up I’ll give you a nudge ??

Pm phil see what he knows all ways a honest guy no bull shit off him I might know of something that tiggles ya fancy
-
Thought I’d read somat some were on them likes it might of been in my days when I was on fb or something
-
What herding cross? Terrier cross? Something deerhound greyhound bred or a mix up of the lot the world your oyster mate
-
I thought I’d read somewhere they added some woolly looking saluki coursing dog in the mix
-
What sort of x you looking for? Racey bred? The more sturdy type?
-
You might get the odd guy on here running one but bet most people are not so gullible to buy in to the story’s. I’m sure there be some traditional bred lurcher pups available on here this year there always is mate not everyone as gone down the saluki x or bull x road there’s still plenty of us still in to the traditional stuff my self including ??
-
There Not a line mate there just type bred bitzas lurcher to lurcher with bits of every thing of dubious breeding in them don’t fall for the tumbler/Smithfield collie stuff either it’s all nonsense or 800 yrs of breeding nonsense don’t have your pants pulled down on the £450-500 a pup as well
-
That’s funny mate because the dam to this dog that was dna tested is a 26tts whippet if there percentages are true ???? biggest whippet I’ve ever seen the collie an deerhound must of fell out it’s ass running gear
