  1. Had a very good start on my layers feeding a new turkey layers mix protein level 40% and you can see the results speak for then self's. Anyone else collecting eggs early last year I wasn't getting big numbers till end of April atb farmer
  2. A small undershot jaw is not going to hinder the dog in any way sounds more hassle that it's worth asking for money back.
  3. I would personally hold off for a few week your bang on lambing time and a sure way to piss a farmer off is have a unruly dog in the field on lead or loose reputation is hard built easily lost atb kev
  4. Al get some pictures up of the dyke sets were the fox has dug my traps out always peg them down or there running with it.

We have a dyke runs through the farm when I got the pellet gun back from the gunsmiths I shot 19 in a hour the terriers must of had 50 this winter and the traps on the dyke,gate way runs and bridge traps I stopped putting the kills in the game book when I got to 300 was taking up to many pages and at £40 a book I stopped
  6. I personally use light Sussex x silkies I have near on 50 there no bother over winter. I only use banties for my English partridge but they would do well with pheasant to I would say 15 eggs max 5 hens would be perfect keep one hen back up if one hen comes off broody you can put them under the spare hen. I can roughly make these types of hens go broody in 4 days. I also have old English game cross slikie and they can go down in even less Al post some pictures of my brood pens
  7. Just set these 2 traps this afternoon and as I was clearing the old partridge pen of dead weeds I heard the unmistakable snap of the trap must be more hear than what I first thought atb kev
  8. Use banties there's no effort at all no worring about glass lanterns going out and they are stronger and more hardy poults

  11. I give it away never found it to be any good I use beast and lamb hearts and all the cutting from are boning room have really good results with it. Leeds abattoir will sell you offal 80p a kg if you buy regular
  12. It's all about building the dogs confidence in the early stages of training I don't send a dog in cover unless I know theres something in to retrieve or flush so they get in there mindset it's fun to go in bushs
  13. Hard it! That's what the screed is called mix up and pour over it self levelling and good stuff only thing is that when wet it can get slippy so I painted mine with grit floor paint just a idea for ye to look in to cracking set up

  21. I have 3 plastic earth's at side of my sheep fields and they work well I have found that putting a good bend in the pipe helps this it stops a lot of wind blowing straight in to the set
