best country for terriermen.....
Coyotehunter replied to CarraghsGem's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
I know someone dismissed Canada but its a great place for hunting , I hunt a pack of foxhounds ( hunting coyotes) here ( Ontario ) I work my terriers and Lurchers , I don't think you'll find a more vast place than Canada, it's one of the few places in the world that's economy hasn't tanked, so still lots of work ( if you want to work) property prices are reasonable, its way easier to get legal entry than the USA and Ozz , plus both of those countries you'll sweat you're bollox's off for most he year, digging in 90f is not a nice experience, yes it gets cold up here but there's lots of huntin -
You must must be some man to humanely dispatch a fox with a trainer , the only way i could think that would be humane is if you were 25 stone fat twat

HOW THE F&^K DO I UPLOAD MY PHOTOS
Coyotehunter replied to BLACKHEART's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
If you click on the photo you want you'll have a box on the right hand side, in that box there should be a line that says Img code click on that and it should automatically copy it , then come back to THL and start your new topic paste the Img code in to the box and bobs your uncle, preview your post to check its there -
Id have thought it would be fine to, the only thing i would worry about is maybe it being a bit rich and giving them the squits

Pleased with my young Bitch
Coyotehunter replied to Coyotehunter's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
She's around 18 months old maybe a bit younger , I'd have to look at her papers, I took her out a couple of times last winter, and just let her watch a bit, rag a few dead coons, tbh I didn't think she was gonna make much, I friend even said to me he thought she's a cull, but I stuck with her and she's doing good -
Dublin dezzy has hit the nail on the head ! Feckin knackers !! I hate to be pessimistic but you know the craic, good luck anyway

I went out to a place that is having problems with coons, its a big riding arena with large round bales at the rear end of it, i took my young border bitch " T" and a border/russell bitch Bristle, now T has had only been out a few times and has gradually gotten beter and beter , today she sorted the second coon of the day very well, the coon unusually bolted from the round bales at the back of the arena into the kick boards at the side of the arena she then pushed the coon the full length of the arena till it bolted again behind a big stacked pile of firewood and proceded to work it nicely f

Your better off getting the just LEPTO jab rather than relying on the immunity coming from the multi jabs, like bootsha says there are several strains of Lepto and there's more cross coverage with the single jabs, anyone with working dogs would be advised to have there dog done, even if they don't do any other jabs
-
I would leave it as is , maybe put some antiseptic cream on it but that would be it, stapling or stitching wounds is never a good idea with dirty cuts or ones that are any kind of age, unless its clean or can be cleaned more or less straight away, all you'll do is stitch in infection and cause yourself a bunch of problems

WHAT % OF PROTIEN 4 PUPS ??
Coyotehunter replied to nitestalker 28's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Sounds like your pup has got a bit of Coccidiosis, nothing too bad to worry about, just put him on a short course of sulphur based antibiotics, Unless your feeding him up the arse 28% isn't going to harm him, what's the fat content ? -
Pictues of the pups i bred last year
Coyotehunter replied to Coyotehunter's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Thanks for the kind comments , FODR, the life span of a Lurcher over here is much the same as back home, as long as your sensible and don't do stupid shit like running them one on one on coyotes , you need as lease a pair of dogs to pull a coyote down, there are single handed dogs out there but are very far and few between. -
Here's a few pictures of the pups i bred last year, there coming along good , the bitch didn't get to the size id have liked but i think she'll be a usefull tool all the same, their dam is a mixed bred lurcher her farther is 7/8th greyhound and an 1/8th old hancock stuff and dam had everything under the sun in her , the sire of the pups came from the Isle of White and was Whippet/Bull/Grey, there keen so we'll get into a bunch of Coons first then by mid winter on to the big stuff ( coyote's) IMG_9927 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_9779 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_9826 by foxhound

where i used to keep my horse as a kid had a lakie x russell cross called scooter that i used to go bushing with my terriers and he caught a half grown hare, i doubt it was all the well or fit but he definately caught it out in the open after a bit of a chase
-
I've had , bred and raised terriers for 30 years and , and some terriers you can trust and some you cant, i have every conceivable animal running around my place, geese ducks hens peafowl, goats, horses, and all my terries and lurchers are brought up around them, there are some terriers i could put in a 4x4 cage with any of the aforementioned and they wouldnt look at it , i have others that have been raised the same way and wouldnt trust them as far as i could throw them, the thing is knowing your dog, if its not steady with stock keep it on a lead till your gonna work it
-
It depends on what you want ? do you want something harder or are you happy enough with the style of bitch you have now? it always a good idea to try and line breed a good strain, keeps the odds down of producing duds , just my 10p worth

barn piegons
Coyotehunter replied to crazydog's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
is there any way you can shut the barn up ? we used to close the barn up and with a lamp and a .22 or air rifle just have at em , they cnt go anywhere and once they settle pick the rest off that you didnt hit the first time, it somtimes helps if you go away and have a coffe for ten minutes then go back -
there's some wall hangers in amongst them well done

I hunted first cross bloodhound/foxhound crosses out in Rome, they were cracking hounds, they bloody flew and could catch foxes !! i bred the pure bloodhound bitch to a really nice pure bloodhound dog from Napoli the fella was a Mafiosa guy and hunted a lot of wild boar, the dog we used was a beautiful big red dog called Picaso the resulting puppy, yes puppy there was just one !! was dynamite on hares, sir Newton Rycroft hunted first crosses when he was master and huntsman of the New Forrest and rekoned on them being some of the best hounds he'd ever hunted
