  4. It is a strange colour, I've seen one that was an albino with orange striping and mask, but this one is quite unique
  5. Do you do padded lurcher ones too ? if you do could you throw some pics up of them, might have a bulk orderr
  6. What do you charge for them Gafer ? And would you post to Canada ?
  7. I think as long as a breed has a job to do then the breed remains the same, the minute they don't have a job that's when people start fcuking things up , bulldogs are a prime example, border terriers are the same, not enough people work them, so........ if they don't need to go down an earth then why do they have to be so small , and thus we end up with the heffalumps that are walking around now, I have Borders and love them but it's hell on earth finding small ones, and even harder finding small ones that work, as the saying goes " necessity is the mother of all invention "
  8. Yes mate it is, I have 4 of them and a couple of russells
  9. anytime mate you'd be welcome just shoot me a PM
  10. the second coon was in a shed with about 100 big square bales stacked 4 high, the coon was on the floor level , there was only 4 blokes and very little space to move bales , hence it took us a while to get to her
  11. I'm over in South Western Ontario mate , it is a beautiful country , lived here nearly 6 years and love it, I havnt seen enough of the country but as you know it's soooo vast , I plan to do some traveling this summer
  12. We went out last week with the terriers and lurchers to hit a few new spots that a friend had lined up for us, the first place we hit the dog found staight away 22lbs coon in the bag, the terrier went on to find another one, this one wasnt quite so easy to to get to, and the dog worked well for a good hour or so till we could get to her, 2 down , we stopped at a little village store and got some coffee and then carried on to the next place where we had another 3 coons out of it was a great place with plenty more coon around but light was getting dark and the dogs had had more than there fair s
  13. Thats a fair old lump of terrier that mate, hope you have decent sized earths over there or else he'll not be getting dug to, he looks like he could wrestle bears !!!
  14. Some of the best pics I've seen in a while and some of the funniest, the one of the rat coming strait for you with the Dachsy behind is classic
  15. I run Border's and find them the same as any other terrier, some enter easily some are slower , i had a Border dog enter at 10 months and ive had Borders take till 2 years for the penny to drop, as always too many lads want instant gratification and if there dog isnt being dug to by 9 months its a shitter !!!, if you take your time you stand a much better chance of rearing a keeper as you have already found out, one thing i will say is bolting one fox does not mean he's going to be an earth dog but it certainly is a step in the right direction, I also use the Deben Long Range Finder and have
  16. its been a miserable couple of days weather wise over here lots of snow and wind, so ive been holed up messing with some shots from a while back, these were taken at a team penning event IMG_0071 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_9972 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_0024 by foxhound51, on Flickr
  17. Honestly mate id do what Alan said , it sounds like you'd be almost better off with a nice Bedlington, that way if you get a bigger one you've no fears of it getting to ground , and they'll catch rats and mooch about all day long As for which pup to choose, alot of people say pick the boldest one but that isn't always the best pick, you have to look at yourself as a dog trainer, are you the type of person that is hard on dogs, ( and I dont mean beat the snot out of the dog ) or are you a little softer on your dogs , that bolder dog is fine if you your the type of person that can keep a sharp
  18. That's shocking that it takes 6 to 8 weeks to replace a bit of plastic , and to charge you £ for the pleasure , it's disgusting where do they get off charging that !!
  19. There's a mate of mine that lives a couple of hours south of me that been getting some cracking shots of SEO's I must try and get down and try and get some shots myself , nice work all the the same Bill
  20. I actually had arranged for a young lad to come out with me but he got waylayed, I did have my phone on me and could get to it so if I had to i could've rang someone , didn't make it any less scarier though.
  21. like Terrier s pointed out, a smallish fold down hand saw is a usefull bit of kit for sorting out roots and the like, i also carry a small hachet as well for the same reason
  22. I thought that i would take the terriers and lurchers out yesterday afternoon, i went to one of my local haunts that never fails to hold Racoons and ive taken maybe 40 coons from there in the last 4 years, its an arena with round bails at the back, new hay in the front two rows and stinking rancid 20 year old hemp round bales at the rear, i opened the back of the trailer to let the dogs out and stretch their legs and then pulled out Tag my Border dog, and Bumph my russell bitch, i also had my young lurcher Mick and another young lurcher who was out for the first time Swallow, its hard to let
