  1. I hear ya , bloody HDR , most of its overcooked crap, it does have its place but its something everyone thinks they can do well, but few can, your image for me is way better than any HDR, but i surpose im not the judge when you gonna come over this side of the pond for a visit ?? the snow is coming soon
  2. tell us more, but if you on about africa. They mostly use boerxgrey which are boerboel x greyhounds. that looks more like a welsh foxhound cross greyhound, or maybe a bit of deerhound , boerboels are smooth mastiff's , don't look like there's too much boerboel in that hairy dog
  3. If you only got second , it must have been something special to win it
  4. here's a couple of my Borders anxious to be let out IMG_8161 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_8153 by foxhound51, on Flickr
  5. Yes you've got a pretty good little set up there now, now you're into photography your scewed , if i totted up what i have in lens's and bodies i could go on holiday to Jamaca for the next 3 or 4 years but once you get the bug you just can't help yourself Anyway get out there and start snapping , you'll probably feel happier just on full auto mode to start yourself off, but force yourself to try some of the other setting buy a cheap book on aperture and shutter speeds and how to make sure your exposure is right , once you get a handle on it you'll be flying good luck and practice prac
  6. PS the Nikon D4 isnt released yet , and when it is. it will be a small fortune , probably in the 3 grand mark !!!
  7. Hey Mate , id take a look at the Canon , its a good little camera and capable of very good shots, now there's lads on here shoot Nikon so they'll be more knoledgable than me but i believe with the older Nikons you have to make sure you get the right lens's not all fit , with the Canon if it says EF or EFS it will fit
  8. I was out clearing Trails for hunting this week , and the one place i go has a good population of these little fellas although he tells me he's down on numbers this year IMG_8136 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_8134 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_8031 by foxhound51, on Flickr
  9. To be honest , probably not, will it take ok portrait shots? probably, will it take a good shot of a lurcher doing anything but standing still? probably not, these super duper digital zooms are not very good to put it politely, the further you zoom the more degradation to the picture quality, you're beter off buying one of the first generation of DSLR's stick it on MM (Muppet Mode, aka green box mode ) buy a cheap and cheerful box standard lens and have at it, the older dslr's are very reasonable now, cos everybody wants all the bells and whistles with 20 megapixles, unless your getting into s
  10. The Killdeer is very similar to the lapwing and behaves in very much the same way, it does the lure any predators away from its nest or young thing by pretending its injured Killdeer by foxhound51, on Flickr killdeer by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_7108 by foxhound51, on Flickr Killdeer by foxhound51, on Flickr
  11. Thanks lads for your kind comments, you're both a decent judge of hound flesh , because they are the two i'd pick , im like you BM , i like a hound with plenty of colour but would never knock a hound for being light coloured its just my preference but both of those hounds a tidy enough, what they do in the hunting field is the important thing though
  12. Here's a video of some of next years enrty, there 6 months old, out of a half American/English(fell) bitch by a really nice English Dog
  13. Well i certainly would not be aborting the pups at this late stage in the game , in fact id be amazed if you could find a vet that would do it, like a few people have said it would destroy the bitch, just to make you feel better,!! i would let her whelp out and get rid of all but one, so that she doesn't get Mastitis and it keeps her head right, you should have jabbed her WITHIN 48 HRS , not 6 weeks later, what makes you thinks she's in pup other than slightly swollen teats, if she's 6 weeks on she's only a couple of weeks to go, it should be way more obvious than just swollen teat
  14. i think we're all eagerly awaiting the full write up and pics
  15. They're are some pluses and minuses to this cross, 2 of my ex bosses had poodles and the thing that bothered me the most was there temperaments, one boss had two very big males that were very aggressive with both humans and other dogs, you may laugh but 70 or lbs X 2 , 27 inch tts are big dogs, the other boss had a smaller female but it had an odd temperament also it also had Addison's syndrome, another lady I know comes to the kennels for tripe for her young poodle that has dietary problems, I know the female poodle quite regularly catches rabbits, so there's plenty of prey drive, like it'
  16. Nice litter of pups , good luck with finding good working homes, I don't know too many people that can sell purebred salukis that are as well reared as these look for 350 !! Great price
  17. There is a lot of Maize ( corn as they call it over here) grown in this area, it seems there must be some nasty creepy crawlies around because ive seen a lot of crop spraying going on here's a few pics from this morning IMG_7007 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_7001 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_6995 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_6985 by foxhound51, on Flickr
  18. I hear yer, it's the only country that can be both ends of the scale it's the same hear it feels like 50 degree's C with the Humedex !!! and yet in 5 months time it'll be -35 degree's C !!!
  19. Yeah I think they bugger off down south when it gets cold, wish I could do the same
  20. Hey Bill, any time you want a holiday load up you camera's and come on over, there's loads of stuff to capture out here, even if you have dodgey inferior Nikon equipment
  21. Here's another shot, they hang around this house all the time, its like somthing out of Alfred Hitchcocks "The Birds" these birds are true Scavengers, they have very little or no prey drive, you can fly them like raptors but only cos they're food motovated ( kinda like myself )
  22. I took this morning , there's a place that has swarms of these ugly buggers, Untitled by foxhound51, on Flickr
  23. Sorry to hear you have to sell your gear but i've bought alot of gear off this site Canon Forum its pretty reputable, might also give you an idea what its worth, i have the same camera with the battery grip and a bunch of extra's as one of my back ups and I tried to sell it a while back but got no buyers , i only asked $ 350 about 180 quid, everyones looking for all the new stuff and with Canon releasing new bodies every 6 months it not long before you have unwanted old technology, i decided to keep mine rather than give it away for nothing, it owes me nothing and still takes brill shots,
