  1. This camera here is a serious bit of kit , and is a steal right now http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CANON-XL1E-PRO-CAMCORDER-/320831534303?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_Camcorders&hash=item4ab30cb4df#ht_500wt_922

  4. You can't really go wrong with either Nikon or Canon starter kits, both are very good cameras with a wide range of lenses, you'll find if people have had film cameras then their invested already in a brand ( lenses). And so tend to stick to that brand, but really the big two are much of a muchness
  5. Ben, there's some ok images on your site but there's also some moderate stuff on there too, try and remember that your web page is like a show case, so if you're not entirely happy with it then don't put it on your site, might i ask what your set up is ( lens, body ) There's one or two shots there that the aperture seems very narrow on shots that should have maybe been alot wider, are you shooting manual or a preset button ? Take no notice of the guy that said he could do better on his phone, if he can I'd like to see it! But the few lads that have replied are right about one thing, Sarah i
  6. Thank you for all for your very kind comments, I'm humbled, Hannah, the D4 looks like an amazing camera but then the price of th D3x is gonna drop a lot, I'm sure you'd be able to get as nice a images with the D3x, and as we both know if you have good glass you have good images, personally I'd buy a really well looked after low mileage used D3x and buy some nice glass, good luck with whatever you choose, whats the wait time for D4s ?
  7. I was fortunate enought to drive 3 hrs South of here to the small village of Kingsville Ontario ( not too far from Detriot USA ) to photograph a Great Grey Owl, GGO's dont often come this far south, but seemingly there has been a decline in field voles and lemmings this year so he has flewn south in search of food, hope you enjoy the images, i certainly enjoyed taking them IMG_0826 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_0732 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_0661 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_0594 by foxhound51, on Flickr IMG_0334 by foxhound51, on Flickr

  10. Sorry for your loss mate, a few years ago we lived in Kildare, the Inlaws came to visit and brought with them their 2 black Labs, the one morning I went to work going out through the front garden, the Labs must have seen me go and were out in the garden, an hour later I got a phone call from the mrs saying the dogs had gotten out of the garden somehow and both been hit on the rd, one was dead and the just about, some wonderful people helped get the one dog to the vets, but it was too late, there was blood all over the inside of the car but they didn't care, they just wanted to help, the driver

  13. Hey mate the Tammy, isn't a great lens, but if it's all you can afford, I have to admit to being spoilt due to the fact I have saved my bollox off and have 3 L class lens' but when I started out I bought the 70-300mm sigma and got great results from that lens, it's a few notches up from the Tammy but still won't break the bank
  14. Like JSmith says a used DSLR would be your best bet, you can pick up a Rebel 550 (2Ti) at a fairly sensible price, used between 275 and 450 if you don't mind buying from this side of the pond and have it shipped back Here is an example , http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1081104&highlight=550D This site is a really good site and an example of what can be found if you look around

  18. Yeahh coal tit, did a bit ringing with the BTO a few years back and I hated getting these little feckers in the mist nets, their feet are sooooooo bigggggggg, always took ages to get them out the net, Ive seen quite a lot,at certain times of the year with more blue in the colour of their legs, maybe on this one it was more to do with the way the light was coming in on the pic..but wasnt doing to bother desaturating the colur of the legs, rest seem ok on my monitor.. Its amazing how much they look like a bird over here called Chickadee
  19. Nice work Bill, as always what the 4th bird ? Looks like a coal tit with blue legs?
