  1. The standard here is if the owner has the dog off and no stock about, just remind them there are stock in areas and please be sensible. If they persist, or have dogs off around stock, they get a more severe warning, and the old ' well, if you weren't here, I might think he was worrying them and he might get shot' line. If the owner isn't present and the dog is mooching about, it gets lifted and leaded up and I usually go looking for them, or tie it to a fence post for a while (checking) and the owner usually turns up! If they are in with the sheep and chasing but not killing or making them

  3. I wouldn't say i'm particularly stupid . . . . . but I know what you're getting at. I guess i'm building toward a future, and building assets as I go. And my mental state is such if I had to work in Mc'Donalds five days a week, i'd blow my bloody brains out!
  4. I think I may have been a bit harsh mate. Ive had a real shitty day,
  5. Mate, you are starting to do my f***ing head in, you know nothing about farming so give it a rest. I left my house at 5am today and walked back through the door at 8.30. I work seven days a week, and even though I do use a quad, tractor etc, I still average 10k a day on foot. I earn bugger all relatively speaking for the hours. You talk absolute drivel . . . . milking cows by hand. . . . 10 of them once a day? Wow. . . . 500 3 times a day is just as hard even with a machine. T.B - The government seizes the cow, gives the farmer two thirds of the value, from public money and th
  6. Probably more difference in how its hung, cooked etc than the breed.
  7. Quad ????, thought a man of your calibre, and dress sense would be perched upon a dromedary Fairpoint. . .. I could probably stretch to a mule. . .
  8. Given where you found it id say Sheep was more likely than CWD. . . .
  9. Few more of the collie x playing tug.
  10. As far as i'm aware there are only two breeds in her. . . . colour is a funny thing. Who knows!
  11. Aye, i'm not too worried mate, and I think the drive and heart will be there. Just that on the ground that I currently run, the fields are 100 acres average size. . . . so some of the rabbits are a real long way off when you see them. . . a bit of leg might make the job a bit easier. Mind you, plenty of bunnys lurking tight in and around cover, so no doubt she will do a job here. Failing that, if she's slow as feck i'll chase them down with the quad and throw her at them. . . . She is the boldest and most unphased pup I've had, and I've never had a shy or timid one.
  12. The jurys out on the size. . . . dam is just a touch over 23" and sire was 27". . . . If she makes 24" i'll be well chuffed. . . . 22" would be a bit of a pain. 25" would be unexpected. . . . What you reckon?
  13. Not a lurcher but I like this photo.
  14. your a joke you jai, you have been putting posts up on here for years so I'd say you f****d it up then if that's the case AT .
  15. The bloke runs 1500 ewes. You can't check them 3 times a day and night and that stirs them up anyway! We check ours twice a day max, often only once a day and i'd consider us good farmers! Stag mad has that right, those sheep suffocated in the gate way behind, they have been laid out for the photo, they wee pushed down the chute and into the gateway and were crushed / suffocated. I'd be looking at farm dogs. . . .
  16. What makes you say that?
  17. Nope don't think so. The bloke has lost a lot of sheep in previous dog incidents.
  18. If you look at the larger photo, you can see that the sheep died in a gateway, which has a shute into it, the wire is snapped on one side, my guess is there were a few hundred sheep in there, they got pushed to the gate, some went down and they died. We have to be careful here in the pens, and sub divide them or the same happens.
