  2. Johnnyboy and I are on the way this week 100 miles each way. . . childs play
  3. Out of all of the minshaw dogs i have seen, i like the look of the 'ugly' collie curs the most, these two are a good example, although neither are ugly in my eyes, they look thick set and strong boned, but powerful rather than heavy, with good thick necks and strong feet. I saw don in the flesh and was surprised to find him racy as well as tough, and have seen him jumping 5 bar gates, so you can tell he has the typical collie / lurcher agility. I was also impressed by the jacket on the pup, for a young un it had a really good thick coat on her. As johnny mentioned earlier, both the dam and sir
  4. get a fooking grip. Bit fooking touchie arent you so are saying some only ferret 3 months a year Not fooking touchie at all, just could not be arsed typing an essay in defense of the folks who knock it on the head, rather than carry on. I may have been blunt, but thats how I'd be if I was stood in front of you. Now with a little bit more time, I'll discuss it in a propper manner. Firstly, how ever you conduct yourself in the field, or any one else, is none of my business, people do things differently, each to there own. My only gripe really is for somebody who obviously doe

  10. First day today that i was putting puff balls out of cover with the dogs, so they are up and about above ground here. Just as we had snow on the hills today.
  11. Is it only me who just hangs the lamp around my neck. . . no need for any straps, it just hangs there fine.
  12. Learn French and don't piss off the local gun clubs.
  13. Most jills aint in season yet, so in general will be april / may / june time most kits will be on the ground. P.S Rob is right. f**k ferreting without a dog. It's everything.
  14. Are the charlie doing any damage there? Surely the only impact they will really have is keeping the rodents down a bit.
  15. Let me know if you need anyone this coming weekend and we could fire down
  16. I don't understand how folk have so little to do with their time, that they come on here just to pedanticly highlight how someone is breaking the law. If it don't concern you and don't bother the lad in question, leave it for the mods to figure out. Too many smart asses on here.
  17. bit disappointed that you use a mk3, was hoping to see the a relic of a finder from 1928! Ye olde disco carrot.
  18. So you are arguing because the lad suggested that there is a certain section of the dog world who like their coursing and will rob you blind at the drop of a hat. . . . .? FFS . . . . i thought that was common knowledge, you can usually spot them by their white van, and mullet
  19. She is very similar looking t a trrier we ferret with on occaiso. If you look on this thread she is in a photo a few posts down. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/235475-another-look-out-with-malc1-and-co/
  20. Now this is where you need to be honest mate.....Did you let the dog fetch sticks and then have a little chew on them, did you or anyone think it was fun to play 'tug' with the dog or when she was a pup did she have any chews with those f*****g squeaks in them?.... If so then all these things contribute to a hard mouth dog.... Obviously i'm speaking from a Gundog point of view but you could try keeping her on a lead and let her carry something (a dummy if you have one), the minute you see her bite down on it then give her a tap on the nose and a stern 'No!!'. You have to repeat this until
  21. Guilty as charged mate, even johnnys 5 year old tells me to shave but i only stink of ferrets and dead rabbits, so it could be worse i suppose
  22. Cheers mate It's not the easiest or quickest ferreting, and the numbers we are getting have halved, which is a sign that we are doing the job well. The landowner said that they have noticed a significant drop in rabbit numbers, as we have taken about 75- in quick succession, off only a couple of acres
