  1. Once you cross you loss a lot of speed, what good greyhounds lack is stamina, good strong feet and a brain. Show me a greyhound with stamina and I will show you a slow greyhound. Some claim some coursing lines have good stamina, every time I have seen one of these dogs it gets left behind by the other dog. Trouble with working a greyhound is it's like buying a F1 car to go to the shops and drive over speed humps. The ground has to be right, run a greyhound over rough ground chances are it will come back lame, run it more than once a week and it will pick up too many knocks. One thing I have no
  2. Rat attacks won't work when temp is below freezing.
  3. Foxes usually bolt to ferrets, don't know about badgers though, don't know anyone who has entered a ferret into a sett holding one.
  4. Agree with above at least 8 weeks but had a greyhound with same type of injury and it never was 100% after doing it, would run fine one week then next week run 60yds and pull up yelping. Only rest will fix it.
  5. Been out twice in the last week and not had a cod seem to have moved back out, snow melt never helps shore fishing.
  6. Number of dogs don't make that much difference, a lot of the time the faster dog just pushes the hare away from the slower dogs, yes I accept it could turn back into the slower dogs but even when that happens they usually miss it. Pretty sure one of them dogs would have caught that hare in that field. Size of field is what turns it in the hares favour, big fields against a good fresh lurcher, lurcher catches every time. Like someone has already said hunting and coursing are two different things.
  7. I think alot of people thought Khan could become a world champion he was top amateur which shows he has the skills. Never doubted his heart to fight at the olympics at 17 and wanting title fights early in his career shows he wants to fight it was just his chin a lot of fighters never make it after getting blown out like that. I thought his carrer would go the same way as Herald Grahams get some big fights look good in them but then get caught and knocked out.
  8. Can't understand how Khan suddenly has a good chin, he lost to a big puncher in Prescott, but Limmond and Gomez both had him on the floor neither were big punchers I know Gomez has stopped a few but more through volume of punches than a single big shot. I always thought it was a problem Khan would have through his career.
  9. Think Khan will be a bit too slick for him, Smith vs DeGale could be fight of the night. Shame Wlad vs Chisora is off think Wald would have won points/late stoppage but first 5 rounds could have been tasty.
  10. Can't fault him if TV/newspaper company's are daft enough to pay him why not rake it in, guy's 71 may as well make a few easy quid.
  11. Seen plenty of pups ruined/not given a chance by owners who know nothing then blame the breeding.
  12. Yep that's the rumour netted from another water and getting stocked in that's why it happened to be caught in the dark by someone who works there, and all other anglers had gone home. Having read the story I tend to think they may be something in the rumours it just don't add up. Hooks big pike, while playing it rings boss on phone backs boat to bank then go's back out to land it. Must be easier just to land it yourself than mess about like that. Just to add the angler who's scales they used was not on the lake at the time they phoned him up to bring the scales.
  13. Greys Platinum Pike or Greys GS pike worth a look.
  14. Never fished it but these methods may be worth ago, choddy with pineapple pop up on one rod and with the other have a lead about for a hard spot 2-3 spods of maggot over the top and fish dead maggots on the hair with a mix of dead and live maggot in a pva bag. Both are good winter methods. With the chod rig I may be tempted to move it every couple of hours and search the swim a bit. You often find with winter carp they shoal up tight in one spot on the lake, find this spot and you can really get good results.
  15. There's been plenty of dogs breed for the track that have won coursing meetings after failing to run on the track. I think is more important to have a dog that can turn tight than weather it's a track dog or coursing dog. Some greyhounds will lead up any dog but on the first turn end up twenty lengths behind and I have seen this in both track bred and coursing bred dogs.
  16. Either put a few turns of mono or put a wrap of tape on the spool this allows the braid to grip the spool and always load on wet.
  17. RFYL give up little man youve had a couple of twentys don't get carried away, posting other peoples fish claiming them to be your own get a life.
  18. Hmm seen that baseball head picture somewhere else To be honest the write up in anglers mail did you no favours angling guide goes back to local water because he cannot catch else where. Not great advertising, take it you are a tourist guide not a fishing guide.
  19. If you go to Raker try and get peg 12.
  20. Happens on all the good beachs around here as well though when the bass are about.
  21. Raker good winter water, Emmotland (langholme Hill fisheries), A1 Pits, Carpvale doubles, Fairview, River Trent another good winter water, Pottery Pond, Brewery Farm on cemex ticket but winter ticket is around £18.
  22. Like hedz31 says would not want to risk my dogs or ferrets on poisoned rats.
  23. Wish Chesil was my local beach so many species to go at all year round. Was meant to be having a night this week but weather looks to have put an end to that. May give the humber a go if it hasn't calmed down by the weekend.
  24. Yes you watch the good casters and they really make it look simple. But then you get guys who claim to be fishing 180+ and when they go on the casting fields can't hit 200.
