  1. Always had 2 bitches together never had any problem, older one tends to become the boss but never had more than the odd snarl.
  2. Problem with vets is not many of them know anything about ferrets, I know one vet who killed someone's ferrets by giving them penicillin, make sure he knows that ferrets have allergic shock to many antibiotics.
  3. Too true almost every one I have come across ends up biting someone, I was a postman for a bit and the 3 dogs on my round that would bite given chance were all rescue dogs.
  4. Selling it on is just passing on your problem, are people really going to take it on if they know it's temprement is not 100%, more fool them if they do.
  5. Dogs that bite are a liability if theres kids around, what happens if it bites one of your kids mates, police, RSPCA, don't need the worry or hassle, I would get rid theres plenty of good dogs that don't bite.
  6. http://www.all-about...in-ferrets.html Should be ok to work once she gets tamer.
  7. Have a look at the Zalt range they are worth a place in any lure box.
  8. Did the Jill have any rabbit fur stuck on her feet? sounds like a young jill that may not have started working yet, my mate had one that would bolt rabbits but never killed one first few times out. Some rabbits will just bolt if they see a ferret where as others will get in a stop end or just run around the burrows, if the ferret does not work them you won't shift them. Don't stand where the rabbits can see you or they will stay below ground. Also save the gutting until you have finished or you will get the smell on your nets which can also affect rabbits bolting.
  9. A1 pits, Collingham, Dunham, Bobs Island, Smeatons are a few I know.
  10. Sounds like your striking either too soon or too late, controller floats are only used as casting weight if you fishing close in your better off not using one. The only other thing it could be is using too big a bait on too small a hook.
  11. Handle them while they are eating they won't bite when they have food in their mouths and get use to been handled.
  12. Might have been used by an otter at some point.
  13. If not set properly they will not purse enough to catch a rabbit pursing to some extent is not good enough.
  14. Nets not set properly or they would just purse around the rabbit.
  15. Agree what ever breed of dog or animal you always want the best bread but there is a lot of guys out there that try starting them too early and if they don't perform first time out blame the breeding both terriers and running dogs. End of the day if they had doubts about the breeding why take one of the pups not enough guys are willing to walk away if their not 100% happy and buy the pup in the hope it will turn out better than the breeding.
  16. If you have older ferrets I would not be in a rush to enter kits, can be a pain until they settle down won't come out of setts and don't always work the sets very well. Will come into their own in the second season, by all means give them a bit of work but expect one or two little problems to start with.
  17. Once had a hob fine to handle, but when working would leave the set and set off down the hedge looking for the next. Would bite any dog that got too close, nice animal but would not bother with another for working abit wick for me prefer a steady albino. Would have been a handy ferret for anybody working shallow easy to dig sets if you wanted one that would either bolt or kill but due to the sets I work ditch sides hedgerows prefer a ferret that bolts.
  18. Most household floor cleaning products are safe when watered down as a lot of houses have toddlers small children etc that will come into contact with the floor.
  19. Once had one that use to sit on the top of my hutch and try and dab at the ferrets, only did it for a few days either got bit or bored but soon stopped.
  20. Sonik SK3 fixed spool and big pit reel will cost a little over a £100 but is a good set up or look for a secong hand Greys Fixed spool.
  21. Free Spirit rods are well over rated, the blanks are garbage there's better rods for half the money. Had a set of XS's looked just the job when I bought them, they went soft in no time worse carp rods I have ever owned. Got told Free Spirit pay around £11 a blank which are the same blanks TF Gear use on some of their rods.
  22. Look spot on, will buk up a lot over the next 12 months.
  23. Even if your ferrets killed the cat why would any one with any sense go and cause a load of hassle for themselves by telling the cat owner.
