  1. All I said was the fish looked almost exactly the same size as the first which I said was defently a double, but most others seemed to think weighed around 8lb. Now he has weighed a fish that could well be the same fish at 14lb it proved me right. As for photos A I don't know how to put them up B I have no interest in posting them up to prove a point to you, C I will never post any pictures of me or my dogs on a hunting forum, nothing against those who do just I choose not to. Notice you aint put any of your pictures up apart from that 9lb one you have now taken down.
  2. Never seen anyone do 200 yards with a baited rig, most people struggle to do 220 yards on the casting field in summer with just a lead and no wind. Put a big cod bait on and 20lb line it knocks a lot of distance of your cast.
  3. Make sure you check the weather before you do a 100 mile round trip. I fish the east coast and if the winds from the north it makes for a big sea and a lot of marks can be unfishable. On the plus side a big sea brings the cod closer in.
  4. You have changed your tune after slagging his last fish off saying it was 8lb.
  5. It will be 14lb its a long fish, looks bigger in the second photo he says he's 6 foot tall so it's a nice length.
  6. Well done but your scales must be faulty, looks no bigger than the other one you put up that weighed 6-8lb LOL. When you take the pictures of them if you take the picture of the same side you can see if there the same fish by the markings, that fish could be the same one you had last week.
  7. Depends on size of lures being used small light lures work best with a fixed spool were as large jerk baits work best on a multiplier set up.
  8. Spend a few weeks walking her were theres no cover and get her use to returning to you more, and you can call her back when shes getting too far a head or behind. Young terriers do tend to go hunting off for a while but do get better. If you do lose her rather than looking for her stay where you lost sight of her as this is where they often return to walking off looking for them often takes you further away. Just to add try and make her realize your part of the hunt, if she thinks she needs to be 100 yards or more a head to find quarry this is where you will have problems.
  9. Eddie Turner has not had anything to do with those alarms for over 10 years, Andy Lush develops tests and markets them himself.
  10. Which rod tastes best then? bottom fish was never weighed, I know that, top one would say 9lb at a guess its hard to work out the length as the angler has held it a long way out to make it look bigger but by the span of the hand around 4" I would say it was 32" long. Like I said try that formula its quite accurate.
  11. Look don't want to go too much into it but I'm employed in the tackle trade due to my knowledge of carp and predator fishing, what's the point in you posting them up you will say a different weight to what I say, the formula I use is there if you want to do it yourself and see how close it is.
  12. Its not a lean fish, % my of the predator fishing is on rivers I know what pike weigh.
  13. WEIGHT CALCULATION FORMULA There is also a formula that might be of some use in calculating approximate weights of pike (in pounds) if you have the girth and extreme length measurements (in inches). The formula is: weight = length x girth x girth ÷ 800 (W = L x G2 ÷ 800)
  14. Why what's so wrong about that? It's pretty standard stuff.
  15. What type of waters will you be fishing rivers, lakes or reservoirs. You tend to use drys when the trout are feeding on the surface taking natural flies, through the winter nearly all your fish will be taken on wet.
  16. They started breeding later this year due to the harsh winter, normally pack in end of February due to nests of young ones, went well into March and never saw any. Certainly not bred well this year in summer there was not many young ones about.
  17. Give middle Trent ago next time, not too far for you pike to upper twentys and stacks of zander.
  18. Would rather have a quick dig and get both rabbit and ferret than stand around for an hour or more not knowing where the ferret is. Whats so wrong with using a bleeper?
  19. Last years hard winter thinned them out.
  20. Surly its way too long to be that light, rivers I fish pike of that length are always doubles a pike of between 34-36" should weigh between 11-14lb a 39" pike is usually very close to if not over 20lb.
  21. Just curious as to why pineapple stops them doing that?
  22. Be careful when feeding poultry to ferrets lad I worked with poisoned his ferrets feeding them dead turkeys that had been on medication, one died and the others would not eat it again. A lot of poultry medication contains penicillin. Should not have a problem with day old chicks though.
  23. Why how many 30's has he had mate? And how many 20's has he had? I also hand land all my pike... Not totally sure but think it was around 17 pike over 30lb, but then he stopped publicizing his captures so could be well over 20 now. I know last year he put a catch report on another forum and it was either 2 or 3 over 30lb and I think 5 twentys in one days fishing.
  24. Problem will be they get all worked up first time and never really work proply, just running through the sets and not hunting them. But they need to be started at some point and will get better with time. They often bite first time out as well both picking up and taking out of box even when they have been well handled, its just all new to them.
  25. Big pike are easier to hand land than jacks theres more room to grab them, only time I use a net is if I can't get to water level. Neilson Baxter hand lands almost all his pike and he's probably had more 30lb+ pike than any other angler in this country. Laying a 2lb jack on a bit of soft grass ain't going to do it any harm it's not like he's put down on gravel or rock.
