  1. She looks a cracker DD,what lines is she from?Is she a good earth dog?All the best, Higgins.
  2. look for a balance in the diet, feed them anything that's been recommended on here, then narrow it down to what the dog will eat and what's convenient for yourself, dog's will pretty much eat anything but let your common sense tell you what to give them,if it's mostly natural raw food then it will be okay, don't worry too much, all the best, Higgins.
  3. Here's my 4 1/2 mth pup Ali,mad fecker, very annoying but calming down a bit now, done nothing yet, but finds cats and hedgehogs in the garden and bays at 'em.... Higgins.

    Speed cameras

are there any coppers on here who work their dogs that could tell us some inside info on speed cams? Or won't they say they work for the police? Higgins.
  5. hello Rie, you shouldn't have a problem on here pal there are loads of breeders of ferrets so someone wil be able to help you,by the way what do you do with your ferrets?all the best, Higgins.
  6. like the pup Pipey,i usually look at a terrier's eyes as they tell you much, he has that something in his eyes looks a bugger, all the best with him, Higgins. P.s his eyes say,'i don't think much of this holiday lark, when we going to do a bit of 'grafting'.
  7. not sure what damage is done here, but a good eyewash should be first, and if there is no sand/grit left a bit of vaseline may stop the eyelids sticking, all the best, Higgins.

    Tomorrow

you did the right thing FD,i've seen too many people prolonging their dogs suffering in'trying to do the right thing',but sentimentalism gets in the way, your dog should be at peace now god rest his soul, you will have many happy memories of him, time to get yourself another dog which will relieve your pain and also distract you from what has happened, and the new pup/dog always teaches you something new, you'll probably notice something of Razor in the new pup,all the best, Higgins.
  9. i would just like a very fast dog, whether it's on the lamp or in daytime my reasoning being, if it's very fast in the daytime as it is in the night, then i would have the best dog in theory.in practice who owns one of these beasts? If it could also take fox and be big enough to take deer, then this would be my ideal dog,oh and if i could also do a bit of ratting and feretting rabbits with it,i would be chuffed to own this phenotype of a canine,an all rounder is for me as i would only have to have the one dog, all the best, Higgins.
  10. if your a member of smoochers,my friend TIGERDOG has some middleton lines and there are pics of them on there, all the best, Higgins.
  11. my sister had cats, and my lurchers got used to them,i think terriers are more of a problem although they too can be brought up with them, whichever you bring home start them as pups, as in my case i brought an adult terrier home which killed our cat of 12 years, never heard the last of it since, Higgins.

    love that bird,Foxy! Higgins.
  18. hi Waggi and welcome back into the groove...hope your enterprise is fruitful. Higgins.
  19. agree with BBB,the only thing to consider is that the line is WORKING,bloodlines today are incidental, unless you favour a particular breeder,if you want it to do some graft just make sure every dog in the line has worked, that has to be a terriers standard, more so now in this day and age of breeding for money, reputation and looks! Higgins.
  20. if i go to a terrier lurcher show,i'm only going for a day out and the possiblity of meeting other workers of dogs, they are not to be taken seriously, all that really matters is enjoying a day out with the dogs and watching them work to the best of their ability, all the best, Higgins.
  21. found a couple of pics of the stoat i kept,.. all the best, Higgins.
  22. don't tell him that now,he's nearly finished it,LOL! I agree with you as i like to see what they're up to from the house, as well as for the dog's interest in seeing what's happening,i'm sure he may have a reason for facing them away though, Higgins.
  23. ratreeper, you will have a job trying to catch one, first they are like quicksilver when loose, secondly they will bite hard,i should know, had a tame stoat once,it was 'tame for a while sort of thing',i could pick it up like fish says it takes a while to get them that tame, but when he escaped his cage i ended up chasing it all over the estate where i lived and had to wear thick gloves because it had reverted back to it's wild state and would attack me ferociously, same with a weasel when chased they will attack, when i got bit of my pet stoat the pain was so severe i could still feel it a few wee
  24. Don't read much,..can't seem to face it... There have been some nice books done recently,...and hopefully loads more to come... I quite enjoyed 'Lurchers and Longdogs' by Ted Walsh,..not because it was a riveting read,..but more so,.because it was amongst the first treatise on the running dog in the UK...And no matter what anyone says,..you cannot beat an original... ..... Looking forwards in to the future,..I personaly feel that there should be some account made of the 'specialist' hare killing dogs that have provided so much enjoyment for folk.. These selectively bred critters are vast
