LL don't worry about it,most of the older members have been there, you've apologised,i'm sure all is forgiven,as someone said it may be a turning point for you,at least the fact you aplogised is proof that you have a conscience, and that is a good quality in my book, all the best, Higgins. PS.never repeat the same mistakes twice, the first time will be hell, the second time not worth thinking about....

welcome scruff, what terrier have you got then,is it a young 'un? Higgins.

some good advice from everyone highlighting the 'unglamorous aspects' of the job,in truth i don't fancy it now,i fecking hate paperwork of any sort apart from reading or wiping my a*** with bog roll, and i certainly would be bored visiting factories(the very places i dread and wish to escape from!) to inspect traps etc; I suppose what i really want is plenty of permission for sport, with the added bonus of a few 'paid' jobs not full time to the point that it would destroy any pleasure gained from hunting,i think i will keep it for sport and pleasure now, life is boring enough if you can't ha

MC i agree with you totally about how you say it all pans out and i expect it would become 'just another job' eventually, also having an understanding family needs to considered, the points about farmers and lads who do it for free,i am aware of,i was thinking about industrial business locations and such like when i read sidebysides job recently,i don't expect everything would be like a sporting day out,i suppose when i think of my current situation and other unpleasant alternatives at the moment it would still appeal to me,but all the comments from yourself and MT have given me an

MT,thanks for taking the time to explain a few of the unseen factors that need to be taken into account(the business side etc;),your point is well taken and appreciated, for me it was more about a change of jobs and i'd rather be doing something that gets me out and about, than doing mundane work, the bonus side would of course be getting paid from time to time, but i was thinking if i could get it together it would be great, but your right about taking it's time to build up and all that, and i will give it some serious thought, thanks all the best, Higgins. :thumbs-up:

Hi pal, it's not easy to tell what is wrong from the first photo, but from what you tell us about the tooth, it's possible it may have worsened over time,i think that tooth needs pulling out,as it may have caused an infection or be causing a lot of pain now when he trys to eat, this is all i can think,if i was you i'd get him down the vets to make sure it's nothing else and get the tooth extracted and some antibiotics,if that's all it is ,the ferret will A1 after it's healed, all the best and let us know how you get on, Higgins.

been looking for a topic like this for a while,i need to change my job, fecking sick of it,if i could find jobs like sidebyside has had i would go for it big time,if anyone out there has similar circumstances and would like to join me in setting up a operation, then pm me,it's just a matter of finding the big firms that pay, snareman maybe you were born at the right time,no way would people pay that sort of money in the past, all the best, Higgins.

you what.....did you say one bolted?

genetically they would be the same,i think they would level out to look the same regardless of which way they were crossed, this may be due to the high proportion of sighthound blood,it might be easier to watch the results of totally different types ie;non sighthound x sighthound, this way you could notice the effects of breeding in a certain way,as in first crosses as they are usually crossed back to greyhound to level out the litter and reduce wastage, Higgins.

am considering attaching microphone transmitters for listening to the dog underground,i think it will aid the digger if a dog has been too long underground,if a dog can be heard active in combat or maybe digging on etc;this would give the digger some idea of a terriers progress, what do others think? Higgins.

And what do they do to your finder for your £40? I mean it is basically a graduated transistor radio tuned to your collar frequency, so other than maybe re-painting the graduations on the black wheel, and having a quick 'hoover' round what else can they do? Sure enough if the box is faulty then I could see diagnostics or replacement parts would cost, but a service?? I would ask them what exactly this super-tuning entails before you send them . . . OTC been after a few old sets myself for personal use,i made collars for these sets in the 's,now interested in sorting the boxes

Sorry Ditch,Didnt mean to put yoy to any trouble still an interesting topic though,i sometimes wonder about the timing of innoculations,i had a young lurcher jabbed many years ago which went on to manifest some symptoms of an epilectic nature,at the time distemper was prevalent then, before parvo reared it's ugly head and things began to look seriously out of control with the pup,we decided the pup wasn't going to make it so ended the pup's life, when i think back, i wonder if anything could be done, diseases are invisible, symptons are larger than life,i forget the time scales and time lap

I USED to think the same as you Bob,...in fact,.I once sold sheet netting for long nets,...mostly 4z and 6z,..and when this is 'doubled up',....it catches the rabbits well enough.....BUT,... ..when I changed over to 'spun nylon' and similar twines, it was impossible to get the material in sheet netting form, thus, it had to be hand knotted. Luckily,.I found some skillful enthusiasts who kindly made beautiful long nets designed to my own specifications,...These nets were far more comfortable to work with, and I'll never return to the nylon Z's... Anyway,..it is entirely a personal choice, and

Bigbob's right, but i understand some people 'have to do it' first, to realize it's not worth doing too much, just for the experience and knowhow they feel satisfied they had a go,sheet netting's the one really, economically and time wise, Higgins.
