can sort you some kits out if they drop mate,the dog was from wales,don't know about his breeding, but the ferrets are from good working/show stock,won a few champion trophy's according to their breeder, all the best, Higgins.

if i can remember rightly,you start off making a rabbit purse net,on one side you add an extra mesh (this will be your long length side) then on the width(short side)you take up two loops until it begins to look squared,(long net shape),it's a long time since i last made one,also gate nets are similar to make but not as long,maybe others on here can elaborate in detail,all the best,should keep you off the streets for about six weeks, Higgins.

steve,your lab looks in good health,he's in good condition in that pic,looks like he'll have a few more years yet,Shotup i can't believe a dog can actually live that long,but if it's in the Guiness book then it must be right, this is an interesting topic,wonder what the oldest average age of most working dogs from forum members have been,all the best, Higgins.

nice one Moll & Chalkwarren,to be honest i was curious as to how he would be if he saw the bunnies bolting he would switch his obsession for the ferret to bunnies instead,it seems to be working although i personally wouldn't trust a patt with a ferret unless it was supervised,just nervousness on my part,seen a few ferrets come to a sticky end with the patts,but also seen some other terriers brilliant with them,all the best, Higgins.

what ferrets is saying is a mathematical formula if you like,you need to understand the basics of genetics,put simply if you cross collie with a greyhound,you should get half collie greyhound hybrids,since only two breeds are crossed.The permutation works out thus,if you have half collie greyhound hybrids,the remaining half will be 1/4 greyhound types and 1/4 collie types.It becomes more complicated if you use more than two breeds,you then have to start using the formula and it's permutations to work out exactly what you should end up with. collie x greyhound = 1/2 collie/greyhound hybri

i personally don't bother with boosters after the first set of vacinations,because that usually is enough for the pup to start it's own natural immunity defence as it will more than likely be coming into contact with said diseases and it's immune system should still be breeding antibodies in a healthy dog,the vets are using the excuse of reassuring people that they will need boosters in the same manner a sales person will sell you insurance for your Hi-Fi,Plasma Tv,they make plenty of money from the commision of insurance sales! we don't know what he is capable of just yet,the lad's only had the dog a few weeks,but we were trying him out to break him to the ferret and let him see bunnies bolting,the dog was rock steady and sat patiently watching the proceedings with interest,wasn't going barmy like some do,i was impressed with his steadyness for a terrier, Higgins.

went feretting with Tom on here and his new dog,a Patterdale called Butch,and a ferret we bought from Rocky4.We feretted a field on an industrial estate which had a few rabbit warrens,the ferret did well bolting a few from each warren,the first rabbit was caught in the purse net,the second was caught by Tom's terrier as it tried bolting!After,we tried rebolting a rabbit which ran down a one holer,the jill bolted two from it,then i remembered i had my camera so took these on the last one hole we did! had mine done at 8weeks,heard someting about injections would be wasted on anything younger because of the bitches immune system via the milk,i may have not worded this right,but have a look through some posts on here or smoochers,pretty sure that's where i read it, Higgins.

LB i don't know you,but what i do know is that what you've done for dogs takes some doing, you are one of a kind and there are so few of your like,the sheer dedication and unselfishness and the time you put into rehoming would take a heavy toll on the strongest of people,it's a sad world for dogs out there unless they are cared for,people like yourself do a sterling job and they are sure gonna miss someone like you,but i wish you all the best in your decision and you have to think of yourself first before you can think of caring for homeless/unwanted dogs,all the best, Higgins.

Does anyone know what fox pelts fetch these days,during the 70's they could fetch £15-20 ,rabbit skins you couldn't sell,so if rabbit pelts have gone up,what's fox pelts going to be at that rate,or is their less demand for them now?

yes he took it to the vets but i don't think any explanation was given for it,but what happened was that the dog was sleeping,then all of a sudden it stood up with back arched,and wasn't steady on it's feet,also had a 'glazed expression',my friend said it was as though he was looking through me,i believe he said the dog was unsteady on it's feet as if it was like a new born calf is when trying to stand for it's first time,hope this helps, Higgins.
