  1. Not the best of picture's as i took it through a window but you can see the cock and hen feeding two goldie chick's.. bearing in mind i put a 4 day old Goldie chick in there yesterday with blood on it's back that i found on the aviary floor which was not far from death's door..i was over the moon to see both parent's feeding one each so finger's crossed the weaker one survives..
  2. It could be an allergy of some sort.. you will only find out what it really is if you have a decent vet..
  3. Controlling is not a problem if you keep on top of them...getting rid of an infestation is a different ball game..
  4. The one i had many moon's ago did..
  5. Could it have ran into something..

  11. And to top it off i rung 2 goldie chick's earlier.. i checked 1hr later and one was missing.. the bitch had flung it out of the nest by it's back by the blood on it.. luckily i found it still alive in the opposite side of the aviary floor... once i had warmed it up in my hand i was in a bit of a dilemma what to do.. i cranked the polyhatch incubator up straight away while the chick was warming in my hand but it is set at 37.5C .. which slung me again as that is for hatching egg's and for day old chick's who are constantly under that heat up until 3/4wk's.. (Quail wise) Anyway fook my head
  12. Just tried ti feed one with a pipette mixed with egg food and dog food and i may well have choked and killed it.. .. it's not for me this hand rearing malarky what happen's.. happen's from now on.
  13. I'm a utter cock when i have not been drinking especially when folk get misled into believing that diatomaceous earth is the new gold in pest control.. it's been used for year's with bird keeping folk and to be honest it's a crock of shit it simply DOES NOT WORK it's rubbish /shit /garbage and whatever else you want to call it is pure shit... ..maybe if you have 2 mite's in your house you might think it work's.. but maybe if you have an infestation and you have used diatomaceous earth for year's and the infestation still arrived i can simply say the stuff is about as much use as a cock with

  16. There in the hand's of the god's now matey..i don't have the time of patience to hand rear them..but them goldie mule's are good feeder's and i would try some different food in there but i also have Goldfinch chick's under mules which are my main priority..

  19. You do right to take the pan's out Franc.. ..there little bodies will need a break..can you imagine the strain it put's on them when they are rearing clutch after clutch of chick's..
  20. I got a message from a mate earlier today..asking me what the newly hatched chick's where that he found on his garden path..they was also a egg on the path partially hatched the egg gave the game away and they are house sparrow's but god know's where the nest is.. anyway i rushed them into my indoor aviary and put 1 each under a sitting mule hen and would you believe it the mules sat straight on them.. ... my only worry is that they where a bit cold and weak.. if these hen's warm them up they may well pull through.. ..i'll keep anyone interested informed..
