  4. hi all just got a new dog last weekend lurcher, thinking of taking him along this weekend not to do anything just to watch, should i let him settle in a bit more and get used to me hes 8 months old been introducing him to the ferrets this week, but hes a long way off being steady cheers j

  11. hi all i just got a lurcher on sunday 8 month old dog pup unwanted and never had any field training , comands are good not sure about sire or dam hes definantly got whipet with some saluki at the moment hes 23 inch tts not seen him run as dont want him disapearing into the sunset, should i just carry on with basic comands for a few weeks while he gets used to me , im new to lurchers i have a terrier but i think this is going to be esier as far as obideance goes,imgoing ferreting this week should i take him along as a spectator only
  12. my little poley jill shifted first hole i put her down, not sure how much she new about it tho by her second outing if they were home they were coming out like it or not, but if the warrens empty she still acts a bit silly. but i have high hopes for the little girl, and this is a jill that was brought up in a kitchen playing with cats before i got her , but you could see her instinct straight away i had an inclin she would do good, but the albino jill i wasnt to sure an unwanted pet yet from working stock, when i got her she was over weight slugish not to sure about anything now shes had a fe

  14. at the mo i dont use a ferret finder as i dont have one , just use two jills keep the hob for {lie ups} kills below ground. but im only doing this weekend at a private school thats having some probs then thats it till next season , and then old knoby the hoby will be fited with a collar for any lie ups as i will be able to aford one by then , its worth saving for one for next season you might have to forfit a few nights out in the summer but it will be worth it or two nights out if you were like me

  21. if she keeps poping out its likely its aN EMPTY SET , and if you dont leave the sets for a few months at least your wasting your time, in my experience a little poley jill can take a bit longer to bring on and will always have her moments , i have a poley jill she was untried till a few weeks ago and if theres no one home in the burrow she can be a little trying, but if she gets a scent well she flushes even pregnant does shes magic . so be patient as for the meat once they realise they aint geting anything else and if yours are like mine spoilt they son come round,could always pop down for a
  22. i didnt know it was possible for them to get it on before the jills fully inseason any comments your right, unles the jills are in season at time of mating, a roughed up neck is not a gurantee'd mating thought as much i took my jills out a few weeks ago due to neck scaring .
