At 100yrds the 22 magnum has more knock down than 22lr at the muzzle. And quite a bit more than the 17hmr. Its only after 150 that the 17 hmr comes to the fore.

The reason I want a 22 magnum is because I want it. Just an extra tool. I couldn't give a crap about what I SHOULD get in someone else's eyes. I might also get a 223 or 22-250 in future. No foxes will get shot with this unless at very close range. I don't like c/f for mooching as they are too heavy and carry bit too much power for my sport.

Good thinking, 22 magnum will be designated as an all purpose night vermin tool. I'm going to apply for it. Can only say its not good enough reason to have it.

I currently have a 17 hmr and a 22lr which I use for rabbits and corvids. I'm wanting to get a 22 magnum for much the same, but more thump at 100-130yrds. Will this be enough of a reason to be granted a third rimfire rifle. Second in .22 and second for longer shots. A local rfd says its not good enough reason. Any thoughts or advice?

I've heard good things about the endurance 30 and eclipse 30 scopes. But not on anything massive. Eclipse was on a 22-250 and endurance was on a 204. Both holding up well, and both seem brilliant for low light. I fancy the eclipse 30 on my 17 hmr

another vote for hornady v-max. also tried cci, they worked spot on. had box of winchester 17gr, seemed quieter than the other 2 but sadly also £3 dearer for box of 50. hornady £12.50 for 50 cci £12 for 50 winchester £15.

i buy my meat as living horses, i can get an injured shetland pony for around £7. i always go for animals with bone breaks, not aids or tb etc. fu,ck eating that processed shit from supermarkets or even butchers, they don't give me money or support, so i return the favour. might dabble with cat soon, as i see quite a few free kittens on gumtree.
